This section describes how to use the built-in Microsoft
Monitor to set up a Windows NT 4.0 server for LPR printing over the
TCP/IP protocol.
Before you begin this procedure, configure the AXIS 1440 for
TCP/IP, as described in Configuring the Print Server for TCP/IP on
page 23.
Follow these steps to prepare for LPR/LPD printing:
1. Open the Control Panel and click the Network icon to verify that
TCP/IP printing appears in the list of installed components. If
TCP/IP is already installed, skip to Installing a printer below.
2. Select Protocols and add TCP/IP Protocol.
3. Select Services and add Microsoft TCP/IP Printing.
Follow these steps to install a printer for LPD printing:
1. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Printers.
2. Right-click your
3. Click the Ports tab, then select Add Port.
4. Select LPR Port and click New Port.
5. In Add LPR compatible printer, enter the name or Internet
address of the AXIS 1440 as the print server to provide LPD.
6. Enter 'LPT1' as the name of the printer or print queue on that
server.
7. Click the Sharing tab, then select Shared to share the printer over
the network.
8. Enter the name you want to use for the shared printer.
9. Click the Security tab to select security settings on the printer.
10. Click OK to save your settings.
