TCP/IP CD-ROM Server Configuration
• If the CD-ROM server is not on a TCP/IP network,
TCP/IP configuration is not required.
• For Windows NT and UNIX, use the instructions
below to configure the IP address. For other
TCP/IP parameters (e.g., subnet mask and default
gateway address), see the User's Guide.
• For Windows 95 and other systems, refer to the
User's Guide to configure TCP/IP on the server.
TCP/IP Configuraton (Windows NT)
You will need administrator privileges on the NT
server to configure a node on a TCP/IP network.
On a Windows NT system, follow the steps below to set
the Internet (IP) address of the CD-ROM server.
1. Obtain an unused Internet (IP) address from your
Network Administrator for your CD-ROM server.
2. Use the commands below to configure the IP address
on the CD-ROM server. The LAN hardware (MAC)
address of your CD-ROM server must be entered as
six pairs of digits separated by hyphens '-'.
arp -s <IP address> <LAN hardware address>
ping <IP address>
Example: (Use the IP address from step 1)
arp -s 192.124.138.80 00-60-b0-10-00-86
ping 192.124.138.80
TCP/IP Configuration (UNIX)
You will need root privileges on your UNIX system.
On UNIX systems follow the steps below to set the
Internet (IP) address on your CD-ROM server.
1. Obtain an unused IP address from your Network
Administrator.
2. If you are using host names, associate a host name
with your IP address using the appropriate procedures
for your system (consult your Network Administrator
or refer to your system manuals).
3. Use the commands below to configure the IP address
on the CD-ROM server. The LAN hardware address of
your CD-ROM server must be entered as six pairs of
digits separated by colons ':'
arp -s <IP address> <LAN hardware address> temp
ping <IP address>
