Basic Installation (See User's Guide,
chapter 2)
Connecting the Hardware
You can connect up to seven
SCSI CD-ROM drives to a
single HP CD-ROM Server.
The drives are connected using
SCSI cables. The cables must
have the proper connectors for
your drives and must be
ordered separately.
1. Connect a SCSI cable to the
SCSI connector on the
CD-ROM server and to the
first CD-ROM drive.
Connect SCSI cables to any additional CD-ROM
drives as required.
2. Connect a SCSI bus terminator to the last drive in the
SCSI chain. No other CD-ROM drive should be
terminated. (The HP CD-ROM Server contains
internal terminators that terminate the other end of
the SCSI bus.)
3. Set the SCSI address of the CD-ROM drives (for
instructions, see the documentation for your drives).
Each connected drive must have a unique SCSI
address. SCSI addresses 0 through 6 may be used.
The HP CD-ROM Server uses SCSI address 7.
4. Connect the network
cable. Use only one of
the Ethernet
connectors (on the
stand-alone module,
either the RJ-45 or
BNC.)
5. Power up the drives,
then the CD-ROM
server. For the
stand-alone module,
ensure all the drives
are on before the
server. When the
indicator
STATUS
stops flashing and
remains off (this may require several minutes), the
