The "place and date" of shipment must be entered by the shipper (the "person" who offers the freight
to the carrier). The shipper must offer a minimum of two signed copies (our internal standard is four)
of the completed Shipper's Declarations for Dangerous Goods to the carrier, usually along with the
Air Waybill.
A copy may be taped on the side of the box, but this is not required. There are currently no provisions
in the regulations for them to be electronically transmitted.
Should a shipment be rejected for any reason, a Dangerous Goods Checklist should be provided
which indicates the specific reason for the rejection.
Think of a Shipper's Declaration as a quality check for the shipper. The airlines, just like shippers
want the declaration that everything is in order from the last person who touched the product. If the
rack had been built out for CTO and then put on a plane, the documents would come from the factory
or the group building out the rack.
