2. Detach the camera's battery compartment cover.
● EOS40D: Place the camera on a desk or other flat surface and hold it
firmly so that it does not drop. Next, pull the battery compartment cover
while opened at a slanted angle to remove (Fig. 2-1).
● EOS30D/20D: Refer to Fig.2-2 to remove the battery compartment
cover.

turn the attach/detach knob to tighten securely (Fig. 4-②).
※ Be sure to attach the JBG-C006 to the camera before loading the power
supply in the JBG-C006. The results of the battery check may not be
displayed properly if you attach the JBG-C006 to the camera with the power
supply already inside.

2. Press both release levers outward in the battery compartment, and
remove the battery magazine (Fig. 6).
3. Check the illustrations on the battery compartment cover, and insert the
battery packs all the way in (Fig. 7).
4. Close the battery compartment cover until it clicks into place.
※ If only one battery is used, it may be inserted in either the right

simultaneously by both battery packs.
※ Two battery packs at different charging levels or different types
can be used without any problems.
■ Inserting AA Size Batteries
1. Insert the batteries into the battery magazine (Fig. 8).Insert the batteries
with the + and - ends in the directions shown by the illustrations.
2. Turn over the battery magazine so that the inserted batteries are facing
downward, and then insert the battery magazine until the release lever locks
into place (Fig. 9).
3. Close the battery compartment cover.
Press the cover until it clicks into place.
▲ When AA size batteries are used, the continuous shooting speed during
Al Servo AF will slow down. Also fewer images can be shot. Therefore,
usage of AA size batteries is recommended only for emergencies. Use of
AA size batteries is also not recommended when connecting the camera
to a computer.
▲ When using throwaway AA size batteries, the camera may not function
when used at temperature below 200C/680F or for certain battery brands
and storage conditions. Also, insert six new batteries that are the same
brand. Do not use old and new batteries together.
■ Inserting the DC Coupler
To connect to a household power outlet, use the AC Adapter Kit
ACK-E2 (sold separately).
1. Connect the DC coupler to the AC adapter, and then connect the
power cord to a power outlet.
2. Load the DC coupler into the left side of the battery compartment
(Fig. 10-①), and pass the cord through the cord mount (Fig. 10-
②).
3. Insert the DC coupler all the way in.
4. Check that the cord passes properly through the cord mount and
close the cover until it clicks into place.
▲ Do not connect or disconnect the power cord while the camera's
power switch is set to <ON>.
▲ The DC coupler can also be used with the Compact Power
Adapter CA-PS400 and DC Coupler DR-400 (both sold
separately).
■ Using the Battery Grip
● Turning the vertical-grip ON/OFF switch to <ON> (Fig. 11)
makes the JBG-C006 buttons and dials function in the same
way as those on the camera.
● When shooting in the horizontal-grip position, turn the
vertical-grip ON/OFF switch to <OFF> so that you do not
accidentally use the buttons or dials on the JBG-C006.
■ Caution
● Remove the power supply from the JBG-C006 when the camera
will not be used for an extended period.
● Never attempt to disassemble or repair the product. Any
malfunction or accident resulting from such action is not covered
