Fringing

Fringing adds a special touch on table linens and shawls.
Choose a firm, woven fabric like linen where threads can
be removed easily.
Select 064 (Mirror Image) or 080.

Carefully cut the fabric on grain. Remove a single
yarn or thread where the fringing is to begin.

Sew down the left side so the right hand stitches fall
in the open space.

Remove all excess yarn located to the right of
stitching and create fringe.

Drawn Work

Drawn work uses the same method as fringing. Choose a
firm, woven fabric like linen where threads can be
removed easily.
Select 064 or 080 (Mirror Image).

Carefully cut fabric on grain. Determine width of the
drawn work and remove one yarn or fabric thread at
each end.
w
Sew down right side, guiding fabric so left hand
stitches fall in open space. After finishing left side,
turn the fabric around 180º. Sew down other side.
e
Remove the yarn or fabric threads between the
stitching.
