The IMPRES™ energy solution is an advanced energy system developed by Motorola Solutions.
The system includes the followings:
Charger Specification
Features and Benefits
Charging IMPRES 2 batteries using an IMPRES 2 Adaptive Charger yields the following benefits:
Using this unique patented system, there is no requirement to track and record IMPRES 2 battery or remove batteries from chargers after charging completion.
The IMPRES 2 Adaptive Charger System is a fully automated system. The charger pockets accommodate either a radio with an attached Motorola Solutions-approved battery, or a Motorola Solutions-approved battery alone. Batteries charge best at room temperature.
Prerequisites: To ensure optimized charging performance, turn off the radio while charging unless the radio is transmitting data wirelessly on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
Procedure:
Table 1: IMPRES 2 Battery Charging Indicators
Status | LED Indicator | Description |
Charger Power On | Green for approximately one sec‐ ond![]() | Successful charger power-up. |
Rapid Charging | Steady Red![]() | Battery in rapid charge mode. |
Charged to 90% or more | Blinking Green![]() | Battery is charged to 90% or greater capacity. |
Charged to 95% or more | Steady Green![]() | Battery is charged to 95% or greater capacity. |
Fault | Blinking Red![]() | Not chargeable; remove and reinsert radio or battery. |
Standby | Blinking Amber![]() |
|
End of Service Life | Alternating red and green![]() ![]() | Battery remains usable but may be nearing the end of its rated service life. |
For a full IMPRES 2 functionality, a new IMPRES 2 battery must be initialized by the charger.
The charger automatically detects the new IMPRES 2 battery, and automatically starts initialization.
When charging the IMPRES 2 batteries, the IMPRES 2 charger records charging information in the battery memory.
Charging can resume if you remove the IMPRES 2 battery from the IMPRES 2 charger pocket and within 30 minutes, insert it into the same charger pocket.
IMPRES 2 batteries with the Self-Calibration and Recondition icon on the battery label does not require calibration and recondition. If the battery is not fully charged, the IMPRES 2 battery starts charging when docked in the charger. The LED indicates steady Red when charging and steady Green when charging is completed.
IMPRES 2 End of Service Life LED Indication
As batteries are used, normal wear reduces available capacity. IMPRES 2 chargers compare IMPRES 2 battery capacity to the battery Rated Capacity.
When the capacity is at a very low value, the IMPRES 2 battery may be nearing its End of Service.
This section list out authorized accessories that you can use with your charger.

Table 4: Troubleshooting
Problem | Causes | Solutions |
No charger indication |
| Check that the radio with battery or the battery is inserted correctly.
|
Blinking red indication |
| Remove the battery from the charger and replace it back into the charger.
|
Blinking amber indication | Battery is waiting to charge. The battery temperature may be below 5°C (41°F) or above 40°C (104°F) or the battery volt‐ age may be lower than the predetermined threshold level for rapid charging. | When this condition is corrected, the battery charges automatically. |
The IMPRES Adaptive Chargers are not repairable. Order replacement chargers as necessary from your local Motorola Solutions Sales Representative.
This document contains important safety and operating instructions. Read these instructions carefully and save them for future reference.
Before using the battery charger, read all the instructions and cautionary markings on the charger, the battery, and the radio using the battery.
To reduce the risk of damage to the power cord, pull the plug rather than the cord when disconnecting the power cord from the Alternating Current (AC) outlet or the charger.
The followings are the operating guidelines for the charger.
