    2. Before You Begin What You Need Use only the tools and materials described in this manual. Using other tools or materials could damage the machine or cause injury. 1. Screwdriver Use the hex screwdriver to remove black hexagonal-head screws from the machine. To remove screws other than the black hex screws, use a commercially available screwdriver.

    2. Before You Begin Names of Components • Do not remove any covers or screws other than those explicitly mentioned in this manual. There are high voltage components inside the machine that can cause electric shock. Also there are laser components inside the machine that can cause blindness.

    Turning On and Off the Power Turning On and Off the Power To turn the machine on and off, press the main power switch on the left side of the machine. • Turn off the main power before carrying out any of the operations described in this manual.

    2. Before You Begin Turning Off the Main Power • Do not turn off the power while the machine is in operation. To turn the power off, confirm that the operation is finished. • Do not hold down the main power switch while turning off the main power. Doing so forcibly turns off the machine's power and may damage the hard disk or memory and cause malfunctions.

    Specifying System Auto-Reset Timer Specifying System Auto-Reset Timer To prevent the machine from switching screens while you are replacing parts, set [System Auto Reset Timer] to "Off". After replacing the parts return the setting to "On", if necessary.

    3. Regular Maintenance: Parts Replacement A message prompting you to replace each part appears when it is due. Developer What You Need • Hex screwdriver • Newspaper or other paper • Developer bottle 1. Access the Adjustment Settings for Skilled Operators menu. See Accessing Adjustment Settings for Skilled Operators.
