Checking flexible gaiter
Make sure the ground is
level and firm and place
the motorcycle on its side
stand.
Check that flexible gaiter 1
is correctly seated and free
of cracks.
If the flexible gaiter has
worked loose or if cracks are
visible:
Have the flexible gaiter
checked by a specialist
workshop, preferably an
authorised BMW Motorrad
dealer.
Checking Paralever
bearing for play
Place the motorcycle on the
auxiliary stand (see Rider's
Manual).
Place one hand on the
Paralever bearing.
Move the rear wheel to left
and right, while checking for
play in Paralever bearing 1.
If the bearings are not free of
play:
Have the Paralever bear-
ings checked by a special-
ist workshop, preferably an
authorised BMW Motorrad
dealer.
Checking security of
threaded fasteners
Check the security of the
threaded fasteners, as de-
scribed in the section en-
titled "Threaded fasteners".
Work to be undertaken

once a year

Changing telescopic-fork
oil
Have the oil in the telescop-
ic forks changed by a spe-
cialist workshop, preferably
an authorised BMW Motor-
rad dealer.
