If the engine does not cut out:

Have the side-stand switch
checked by a specialist

workshop, preferably an
authorised BMW Motorrad
dealer.
Checking spring-strut
mount for play
Make sure the ground is
level and firm and place
the motorcycle on its side
stand.
Remove the seat.

Lay one hand on top spring-
strut mount 1 and push the
motorcycle against the side
stand.
Repeat this check at bottom
spring-strut mount 2.
If the mounts are not free of
play:
Have the spring-strut
mounts checked by a
specialist workshop,
preferably an authorised
BMW Motorrad dealer.
Checking swinging-arm
bearings for play
Place the motorcycle on the
auxiliary stand (see Rider's
Manual).
Place one hand on the
swinging-arm bearing and
the frame on the left.
Move the rear wheel to left
and right, while checking for
play in swinging-arm bear-
ing 1.
Repeat the procedure for
the right swinging-arm bear-
ing.
If the bearings are not free of
play:
Have the swinging-arm
bearings checked by
a specialist workshop,
preferably an authorised
BMW Motorrad dealer.
