  • Page 13 Calibration Check Before calibration of after repair: always perform a calibration check!! Depending of the result versus the specification of the laser, you must decide to calibrate or not. A calibration check can be done as described in the manual or via your test- environment (see procedure: Rotary calibration stands 14032017_ELR) Field calibration checks should be done frequently.

  • Page 41 The optical level should be placed between the tripod and the wall (at least 12m), ideal would be halfway, almost in line with the laser beam , but not where it blocks the beam.
  • Page 42 Tape a piece of paper across the top of the lasers unit rotary head, so the laser beam creates a dot on the paper. The head should be not spinning during this step...
  • Page 43 Adjust the elevation of the Optical Auto Level so that the horizontal cross -hair is lined up exactly on the center of the dot at the laser unit. DANGER: NEVER LOOK TROUGH AN OPTICAL LEVEL DIRECTLY AT A LASER SOURCE; SERIOUS EYE INJURY COULD RESULT !!
  • Page 44 Remove the paper from the laser rotary head, so that the beam can project a red dot on the far wall. Make a mark.
  • Page 45 Rotate the optical level around so that the laser can project a dot with the cross hair on the graph paper mounted on the wall. Measure the difference between first mark and de horizontal cross hair. This will give you the amount of calibration error of the laser unit’s Z axis.
  • Page 46 Measure how far the centre of the red dot is above or below the cross-hair. This is the amount of calibration error of the lasers Z axis.
  • Page 47 Remember: the next check will be made by your customer...
