Chassis H3C S12500CR Ethernet Switch Series is a new generation of rack switches designed for data center core networks. It optimizes the CLOS switching fabric architecture and uses the variable cell-based traffic scheduling and control forwarding mechanism to deliver higher forwarding efficiency, more refined congestion control, and hierarchical scheduling.
Figure1-2 S12508CR Chassis components The switch has the following sections: interface module section, power supply section, fan tray section, fabric module section, SEU section, and environment management module section. The following figures use the S12516CR switch for illustration.
Page 11
Figure1-3 Front and rear views of the S12516CR switch Table1-1 Section descriptions for the S12516CR switch Section Location identification Description Power supplies are required. • On an S12516CR switch installed with Type K modules, install a minimum of four power trays and four power supplies.
Page 12
Section Location identification Description nt module modules on the switch. section The ejector lever pillow blocks on SEUs are required. the SEU slots are pink marked. • The switch has two SEU slots. You can install one The SEU ejector levers are also SEU, or two SEUs for redundancy on the switch.

• The minimum system power consumption is the total static power consumption of all modules plus the minimum fan tray power consumption. • The maximum system power consumption is the total dynamic power consumption of all modules plus the maximum fan tray power consumption. For example, for an S12516CR switch that has two LSXM1SUPKR1 SEUs, two LSXM1CMUR1 environment management...
NOTE: • For the transceiver modules or cables available for the modules, see H3C S12500CR Switch Router Series Type-K Modules and Transceivers Compatibility Matrix, H3C S12500CR Switch Router Series Type-S Modules and Transceivers Compatibility Matrix.

SEUs SEUs are the core component of the system control plane. You can install one SEU, or two SEUs for redundancy on the switch. Do not install SEUs of different models on the same switch. You can access and configure the switch through the serial console port or the mini USB console port. Only one port is active at a time.
For the compatible transceiver modules or cables for the interface modules, see H3C S12500CR Switch Router Series Type-K Modules and Transceivers Compatibility Matrix, H3C S12500CR Switch Router Series Type-S Modules and Transceivers Compatibility Matrix and H3C S12500R Switch Router Series Port Splitting and Compatibility With Transceivers and Cables.

Connect the RJ-45 connector of the cable to the serial console port of the switch. Ethernet twisted pair cable Introduction An Ethernet twisted pair cable contains four pairs of insulated copper wires twisted together. Every wire uses a different color, and has a diameter of about 1 mm (0.04 in). Application scenarios An Ethernet twisted pair cable typically transmits analog signals and is advantageous in transmitting data over shorter distances.
Cable type Based on performance Ethernet twisted pair cables can be classified into category 3, category 4, category 5, category 5e, category 6, and category 7 cables based on performance. In LANs, category 5, category 5e, and category 6 are commonly used. Table5-6 Description for commonly used Ethernet twisted pair cables Type Description...

Use a cable tester to verify the connectivity of the cable. Optical fiber CAUTION: Use the same types of transceiver modules, pigtail cords, patch cords, and fiber cables. If you use single-mode optical fibers, the transceiver modules, pigtail cords, patch cords, and fiber cables must be single-mode.
Fiber connector Fiber connectors are indispensable passive components in an optical fiber communication system. They allow the removable connection between optical channels, which makes the optical system debugging and maintenance more convenient. There are multiple types of fiber connectors. Figure5-7 Figure5-8 show an MPO connector and an LC connector, respectively.
You can use SFP28 copper cables to connect the SFP28 ports. The SFP28 copper cables are similar to SFP+ copper cables in appearance.
