Always check speaker lines, new or existing, for
transient voltage and proper impedance before
cross connecting to the intercom equipment. Use
a good quality Impedance Meter, not an Ohm
meter.
Per Port Values:
Speaker type:
Max 25 Volt Spkr Load:
----Or---
Max # 45 Ohm Speakers:
25 Volt or 45 Ohm operation is software
selectable on a per VE1225S basis.
Common area speakers and horns should use
the line level outputs associated with zones 13
& 14 and be self-amplified or use suitable
external amplifiers.
Supervision
The VE1225S can be programmed to supervise
the speaker and/or call button wiring. The Status
LED on the front panel will change color to indicate
a fault. Additionally, a loud alarm is built into the
VE1225S to audibly alert when a fault condition is
detected. The alarm can be silenced using the
Silence/Reset button on the front panel. The alarm
is only active if the VE1225S has been
programmed to supervise the speaker wiring or call
buttons.
For supervision to work, the speakers and call
buttons must be of a type that can be supervised.
Contact Valcom for more details.
Silence/Reset
The Silence/Reset button will silence an active
alarm from a detected fault. A momentary press of
the button (up to 10 seconds) will stop the fault
alarm tone and acknowledge the fault.
The button can also be used to reset the VE1225S
configuration. If the button is held in for 10 to 20
seconds, the VE1225S will have its network
settings defaulted. If the button is held in for more
than 20 seconds, a full configuration reset will
occur, including resetting the password.
Rear Panel Connections (Fig. 3)
Line Out Zones 13 & 14 provide a line-level
output suitable for driving Valcom self-amplified
speakers, or for input into other systems such as
amplifiers.

Speaker Contact Zones 1 - 12 is a male RJ21
connection for speaker output and call button input
connections. A wiring connection block with screw
terminal is provided. Both the individual zone
screw terminal blocks and the entire adapter block
may be removed for easy installation. Details of the
wiring connections are provided in Figure 4.
Relay
Two Form A (normally open) Relays are provided.
These can be defined to activate for various
conditions in the VE1225S programming.
Setup
Information specific to your application will need
to be programmed into the VE1225S using a
computer. The PC used for programming should
be connected to the same subnet as the VE1225S.
Setup will be done using the IP Solutions Setup
Tool. Download the latest version of the free IP
Solutions Setup Tool from the Valcom website at
www.valcom.com/vipsetuptool.
