    SUGGESTED FIELD TESTING/ accumulation. This is accomplished by reversing the heat pump to the cooling cycle. At the same time, the outdoor TROUBLESHOOTING fan stops to hasten the temperature rise of the outdoor coil and lessen the time required for defrosting. The indoor Testing Defrost Control blower continues to run and the supplementary heaters are energized.

    Testing Defrost Thermostat 1. Install a thermocouple type temperature test lead on the tube adjacent to the defrost control. Insulate the lead point of contact. 2. Check the temperature at which the control closes its contacts by lowering the temperature of the control. It should close at approximately 30°F.

NOTE: DP3CH/HH units are rated for a maximum E.S.P. of 0.8 except when using a 20kw electric heater. (The maximum static for 20 kW electric heat is 0.5 E.S.P.)     MAINTENANCE Poor “Terminating” Sensor Contact The unit’s defrost terminating sensor must make good thermal contact with the outdoor coil tubing. Poor contact WARNING may not terminate the unit’s defrost cycle quickly enough to prevent the unit from cutting out on high discharge pressure.
