Installation

Secure the radio with the mounting brackets (Fig. 8).
The RM 8204 can be installed at various locations using the supplied mounting
brackets (for instance, in the luggage compartment or underneath the seats).
Attaching the mounting brackets
1. Position the mounting brackets against the left and right-hand sides of the unit
housing. Ensure that the screw holes coincide in each case.
2. Fasten the brackets to the housing using the Torx screws supplied.
The unit can then be secured at the desired location using the screws supplied for this
purpose.

Electrical connections

Install all cables with care. For wiring details, refer to the connection diagram on the
cover page and the table below.
The short ends protruding from the ISO-A extension cable can be used to connect a
navigation computer, for instance, if this computer has been installed in the immedi-
ate vicinity of the RM 8204. Assignments are indicated in the table.
Non-assigned cables should not be cut off. Instead, they should be insulated, wound
and secured to one side. They may be required for retrofitting additional functions.

Connect electrical signals only to suitable points in the vehicle.

If a separate connection is made directly to the battery, protect the positive lead with
a 10-A fuse close to the battery (max. distance of 10 - 15 cm).
12-V permanent positive (A4):
Connect pin A4 to 12-V permanent positive at a suitable point.

This connection should be rated for a current of at least 10 A.
12-V ignition positive (A7):
Connect pin A7 to a suitable 12-V circuit via the ignition.
Electronic antenna / motor antenna (A5), optional:
Connect pin A5 to the supply lead of an electronic antenna or to the control line of
a motor antenna.

Do not use this connection to power the antenna motor.
Battery negative (A8)
Connect pin A8 to a suitable earthing point on the vehicle body.
