Standard (declares compliance of the device with GB 15066-2004, applicable to China only)
Before using the pot for the first time, familiarise yourself with the pot and its handling and check that the contents of the delivery are complete (see illustration A). However, some devices are accessory devices.
See Figure C:
Press the operating button (Fig. A-7) on the lid handle in the direction of the arrow and turn the lid counterclockwise (to the right) as far as it will go. The lid can now be removed.
There is a metal tab with the inscription „Close" (Fig. A-14) on the lid and a corresponding groove (Fig. A-12) in the pot handle. This is to make it easy to put the lid on.
See Figure D:
Put the lid on by holding it at a slight angle, inserting the positioning aid into the groove on the pot handle, and then lowering it. The correct position of the lid is marked by a circle symbol on the lid as well as by additional red dots on the positioning aid and pot handle.
When these points line up exactly opposite each other, the lid can be put on.
See Figure E:
To close, turn the lid clockwise (to the left) as far as it will go until the pot locks with an audible „click".
See Figure F:
You can tell whether the pot is properly closed and ready for use by looking at the locking indicator (Fig. A-8) in the lid handle.
Green: the pot is closed properly and ready for use.
Red: the pot is not closed properly, so no pressure can be built up.
Before first use, rinse the pot, lid and sealing ring thoroughly. This removes any polishing dust and small impurities that may still be present.
We recommend treating the pot and lid with a stainless steel care product afterwards.
This makes the stainless steel more resistant to salts and acidic foods. Residues of care products should always be washed off thoroughly. You can repeat the treatment as required or when the stainless steel surface has changed visually.
Your vitavit® pressure cooker is equipped with various devices that work independently to ensure the safety of the device. Before each use, please check the functionality of the safety devices mentioned below and never tamper with them. Make sure that the pressure regulator and lid handle are correctly fitted and firmly seated before starting cooking. You will find instructions on this in "Cleaning & care" chapter.
Pressure regulator
(Fig. A-3)
See Figure G:
Remove the pressure regulator from the lid and set to level 3. Check that the boiling indicator (1) and valve body (2) move freely and spring back by applying pressure with your finger.
Euromatic
(Fig. A-21)
See Figure H+I:
Make sure that the Euromatic sits properly and moves freely in the lid. The O-ring seal must lie completely in the notch provided.
See Figure J:
Check whether the white ball in the Euromatic moves freely and springs back by applying pressure with your finger.
Sealing ring
(Fig. A-23)
and safety nub
(Fig. A-20)
See Figure K:
Check that the sealing ring and lid rim are clean, the sealing ring is undamaged and the safety nub (1) moves freely.
Insert the sealing ring so that it lies completely flat and below the inwardly curved edge segments (2), against the inside of the lid. The sealing ring must be in front of the safety nub, i.e. pressed away from the edge of the cover.
Never cook without enough liquid and make sure that the liquid in the pressure cooker does not evaporate completely. Failure to do so may cause the food to burn and damage the pot handles, valves, safety devices and the hob. If this happens, do not continue to use the pressure cooker as the functionality of the valves and safety devices can no longer be guaranteed. Have your pressure cooker checked by Fissler customer service.
See Figure L:
Please note the following information on filling quantities for pressure cooking. For easy measuring, there is a scale (min/max) on the inside of the pot.
Depending on the diameter of the device, at least 200-300 ml of liquid is required to produce steam, regardless of whether you are cooking with or without an insert. Never operate the pressure cooker without this minimum amount of liquid.
Ø 18 cm: | 200 ml |
Ø 22 cm: | 250 ml |
Ø 26 cm | 300 ml |
The pressure cooker must not be filled to more than ⅔ of its capacity to ensure safe operation (see max marking).
½
For foods that foam or expand during cooking, such as rice, broth or dried vegetables, the pressure cooker may be filled to no more than half its capacity (see ½ mark).
⅓
When cooking beans and other pulses, only fill the pot to ⅓ of its capacity (see ⅓ mark), as their thin skin can easily rise and clog the valves.
Fissler pressure cookers are suitable for all stove types.
These include gas hobs as well as electric/hot plate/glass ceramic induction hobs.
Never heat the opened pressure cooker when empty or with fat for more than 2 minutes at the highest energy setting, as overheating can damage the base.
Hot plate/glass ceramic (radiation/halogen):
The stovetop should be the same diameter as the bottom of the pot or smaller.
Gas hob:
Place the cookware in the centre and avoid flashover, as this will damage the plastic handles.
Induction:
Always place the cookware in the centre of the hob. The size of the base of the pan should match or be larger than the hob size, otherwise the hob may not respond to the base of the pan.
Special instructions for induction cookers:
To avoid overheating and damage to the cookware due to the high performance of induction, please never heat it unattended or while empty. Please also observe the instructions provided by the hob manufacturer.
A buzzing sound may be heard during use. This noise is due to technical reasons and is not a sign of a defect in the hob or cookware.
Make sure that the liquid in the pressure cooker never evaporates completely! (see instructions in "Instructions for use" chapter)
You can cook in a variety of ways with the pressure cooker:
You can find more information and recipe ideas at www.fissler.com
Add the ingredients to the pressure cooker according to the recipe.
Observe the specified filling quantities ("Instructions for use" chapter).
Then put the lid on and close the pot.
If the locking indicator (fig. A-8) in the lid handle is green, the pot is ready ("Before first use" chapter).
See Figure M:
Choose the desired cooking setting on the pressure regulator (Fig. A-3). To do this, set the marking on the setting ring to the number of the corresponding cooking setting.
Cooking setting 1, approx. 110°C (gentle cooking)
(45 kPa operating pressure)
For very delicate dishes such as fish
Cooking setting 2, approx. 113°C (quick cooking)
(60 kPa operating pressure) for delicate dishes such as vegetables
Cooking setting 3, approx. 116°C (express cooking)
(75 kPa operating pressure) for all other dishes such as meat dishes and stews
Steam setting
In addition to the gentle, quick and express cooking settings, you can also select a cooking setting for gentle steaming in use (Fig. A-1) or cooking without pressure.
Heat the pressure cooker on the highest energy level.
Steam will escape from under the lid handle (Fig. A-6) and with it the oxygen in the air that is harmful to vitamins.
This process may take a few minutes. As soon as the Euromatic closes and no more steam escapes, the pressure build-up will begin. A little later, the cooking indicator (Fig. A-4) will start to show the rise in pressure.
See Figure N:
The cooking indicator always shows a sequence of three coloured rings – regardless of the cooking setting selected. The colours signal the temperature curve in the pot according to the traffic light principle and provide assistance in regulating the energy supply.
Yellow ring:
the cooking setting is almost reached. The hob can be dialled back.
Depending on the type of hob and the amount of food, you can switch back sooner or later: at the beginning of the yellow range for hotplate/glass ceramic, towards the end of the yellow range for induction/gas.
Green ring:
The cooking setting has been reached, the cooking time begins.
The energy supply should be regulated so that the cooking indicator remains in the green area throughout the cooking time.
Red ring:
the temperature in the pot is too high. The pot will automatically start to release steam to regulate the temperature. Please turn the hob down further.
The energy supply should be regulated so that the cooking indicator does not rise into the red range. Otherwise, the pot loses liquid through evaporation.
The cooking times are measured from the time the selected cooking setting (green ring) is reached.
Basic rules:
Example of jacket potatoes:
Normal cooking time | Cooking setting 3 | Cooking setting 2 | Cooking setting 1 |
approx. 30 min | approx. 8-12 min. | approx. 13-16 min. | approx. 18 min. |
At the end of the cooking time, remove the pressure cooker from the hob and allow the pressure to escape (see notes in the following chapter) and only then can you open it.
Never force the pressure cooker open. The pot must not be opened until the cooking indicator has lowered completely and no more steam escapes when the control button is pressed.
There are 4 ways to release steam from your Fissler pressure cooker.
You should choose the method for steam release depending on the food being cooked. For slightly foaming or rising foods such as pulses, soups or stews, or for foods with delicate skins such as jacket potatoes, do not use a method with rapid pressure reduction, as otherwise the food may spill out or the skin may crack.
Method 1
Quick steam release with the control button
See Figure O:
Press the control button (Fig. A-7) lightly in the direction of the arrow to release steam from under the lid handle (Fig. A-9). Hold the button down until the cooking indicator has completely lowered and no more steam escapes.
Then release the button, gently shake the pot and press the control button again. Repeat this process until no more steam escapes. When the pot is depressurised, the Euromatic lowers. The control button can now be pressed all the way down to open the pot.
Note:
as long as there is pressure in the pot, the control button cannot be pressed all the way down. This is for your safety, as it prevents the pot from being opened accidentally when it is still under pressure. So do not try to force down the control button.
Method 2
Adjustable steam release with the pressure regulator
See Figure P:
By gradually turning the adjusting ring towards the steam release position, steam will escape from under the pressure regulator (Fig. A-5). You can choose to release steam gently or a little faster. The greater the increments in which you adjust the setting ring, the higher the steam output. At the end, set the adjustment ring to the steam release position and wait until no more steam escapes. Then gently shake the pot and repeat this process until no more steam escapes. When the pot is depressurised, the Euromatic lowers. The control button can now be pressed all the way down to open the pot.
Note:
never turn the setting ring from cooking setting 1, 2 or 3 directly to the steam release position, as the steam output will otherwise be very high and food may escape. Always turn the pressure regulator to the steam release position in several small steps.
Method 3
Allow to cool
You can choose this method to use the residual energy in the pot.
To do this, remove the pot from the hob shortly before the end of the cooking time and allow it to cool slowly until the cooking indicator has gone all the way down.
Then press the control button lightly to release any remaining pressure. Release the button as soon as no more steam escapes, then gently shake the pot and press the control button again. Repeat this process until no more steam escapes. When the pot is depressurised, the Euromatic lowers. The control button can now be pressed all the way down to open the pot.
This method is particularly suitable for dishes with long cooking times.
Method 4
Quick steam release under running water
See Figure Q:
If the escaping steam bothers you, you can also depressurise the pot under running water. To do this, place the pot in the sink and run cold water over the side of the lid (not over the lid handle and pressure regulator) until the cooking indicator has lowered completely.
Clean the pressure cooker after each use.
Please note:
Pressure regulator
(Fig. A-3)
Removal:
See Figure R:
Loosen the bell nut (Fig. A-24) by turning it anticlockwise and remove the pressure regulator and nut.
Mounting:
See Figure S:
Insert the pressure regulator into the specified position in the lid from above, screw on the bell nut clockwise from below and tighten it firmly. Make sure that the cooking valve seal is tight against the pressure regulator all the way around and that the seal is seated in the notch provided.
Lid handle
(Fig. A-9)
Removal:
See Figure T:
Loosen the cover handle by turning the fastening screw (Fig. A-22) on the inside of the cover anti-clockwise.
Mounting:
See Figure U:
Hold the lid handle in your hand and place the lid in the specified position.
Turn the fastening screw clockwise and tighten it firmly.
The sealing ring should be stored in a clean, dry and dark (protected from sunlight and radiation) place.
To protect the sealing ring and avoid crushing it, place the lid upside down on the pot after leaning.
Sealing ring (Fig. A-23)
See "Instructions for use" chapter.
Rolling diaphragm (Fig. A-17)
See Figure V:
Detach the pressure regulator from the lid and pull off the old rolling diaphragm.
Place the new rolling diaphragm on the plastic pin of the cooking indicator and press the rim onto the metal piston until the thread starts.
Cooking valve seal (Fig. A-18)
See Figure W:
Detach the pressure regulator from the lid and pull off the old seal. Set the pressure regulator to setting 3, as it is easier to insert the seal in this position.
First place the new seal over the metal piston and then press the other side over the valve tappet until it is completely submerged at the top. Make sure that the cooking valve seal is tight against the pressure regulator all the way around and that the seal is seated in the notch provided.
Valve seat seal (Fig. A-19)
See Figure X:
Remove the pressure regulator from the lid and pull off the old seal.
Insert the new gasket and make sure that the gasket is clean and flat on both sides of the lid.
O-ring for the Euromatic (Fig. A-21)
See Figure I
Disassembly/assembly takes place on the inside of the lid. Make sure that the seal lies completely in the groove provided for it.
Euromatic (Fig. A-21)
To disassemble/assemble the Euromatic, you must first remove the lid handle. To do this, you only need to loosen the screw on the inside of the lid. Once you have removed the O-ring, you can remove the Euromatic from the lid. To assemble, guide the new Euromatic without O-ring through the lid so that the side with the white ball is on the inside of the lid. Then fit the O-ring as described above.
