Cranking Test
1. Before starting the test, inspect the alternator drive belt. A belt that is glazed or worn, or lacks the
proper tension, will prevent the engine from achieving the rpm levels needed for the test.
2. After the on-board battery test, the display alternates between the battery test result and the
prompt information, and press Enter to perform the crank test.
3. If the device isn't sure the engine has started after 30 seconds of testing, manually select

Result Description
1
NO PROBLEMS
The system shows that the alternator output is normal.
2
Alternator output is not detected. Check all connections to the alternator,
NO OUTPUT
especially the battery. If connections are loose or cables are severely
corroded, clean or replace and retest. If the belt and connections are
working fine, replace the belt alternator.
3
LOW OUTPUT
The alternator cannot provide enough power to power the system's
electrical load and charge the battery. Check the belt to make sure the
alternator is turning when the engine is running. Replace damaged or
slipping belts and retest. Check the connection between the alternator
and battery.
4
HIGH OUTPUT
The alternator output voltage exceeds normal limits. Check whether the
test cable is loose and whether the grounding is normal. If there are no
connection issues, replace the regulator. Most alternators have a built-in
regulator that requires the alternator to be replaced. In older vehicles that
use an external voltage regulator, you may only need to replace the
voltage regulator.
5
EXCESSIVE RIPPLE
Excessive AC ripple is detected. One or more diodes in the alternator
are not working or the stator is damaged.
6
CHARGE BATTERY
The starter voltage is too low and the battery is discharged. Fully charge
the battery and repeat the charging system test.
7
REPLACE BATTERY
The battery must be replaced before testing the charging system.
