Enabling HP Easy Clean (select products only) HP Easy Clean helps you to avoid accidental input while you clean the computer surfaces. This software disables devices such as the keyboard, touch screen, and touchpad for a preset amount of time so that you can clean all computer surfaces.

Remove the bottom cover: Remove the two Phillips M2.0 × 8.0 screws (1) from the bottom cover. Remove the two Phillips M2.0 × 4.0 screws (2) from the bottom cover. Starting between the hinges, use a plastic tool (1) to release the bottom cover (2) from the computer, and then remove the cover (3).

WARNING! To reduce potential safety issues, use only the user-replaceable battery provided with the computer, a replacement battery provided by HP, or a compatible battery purchased from HP. IMPORTANT: Removing a battery that is the sole power source for the computer can cause loss of information.

Remove the battery from the computer (3). To install the battery, reverse the removal procedures. When installing a new battery, remove the metallic strip from the old battery and install it on the new battery. To remove the strip, insert and pull tweezers (1) under the entire length of the strip (2). Be careful not to bend the strip.

Open the computer. Remove the bezel from the display. The display bezel is available as spare part number N63206-001 in natural silver and N63207-001 in warm gold. To remove the display panel: Move the antenna cable (1) from the left and right top corners of the display. At the top of the panel, use tweezers grasp the ends of the stretchable tape that is installed under the panel, and then pull the tape (2) out from behind the display panel.

Detach the panel from the middle and rotate the panel up and set it next to the display back cover (3). Double-sided tape secures the middle of the panel. To disconnect the cable from the display panel, lift the conductive tape (1) and the transparent tape (2) from the connector on the panel.

When installing the display panel, install the adhesive strips on each side of the display back cover as shown in the following illustration. The display panel is available as spare part number N62814-001. The panel adhesive kit is available as spare part number N64428-001. To remove the camera module, disconnect the cable from the reverse ZIF connector on the module (1).

If the WLAN antenna is not connected to the terminal on the WLAN module, you must install a protective sleeve on the antenna connector, as shown in the following illustration. To install a WLAN module, reverse this procedure. When installing a WLAN module, be sure to install conductive tape onto the WLAN module in the location as shown in the following illustration.

To remove the camera module, disconnect the cable from the reverse ZIF connector on the module (1). Insert a tool in two locations (2) to release the camera, and then remove it (3). When installing a camera cable, be sure to place the cable inside of the alignment marks on the inside of the display back cover. To remove the display cable, lift the cable off the bottom of the display back cover. The display cable is available as spare part number N63214-001.

Release the wireless antenna cables from the retention clips and routing channels (1) built into the sides, top, and bottom of the display back cover, and then peel the wireless antennas (2) off the display back cover. Recovering using HP Recovery media You can use HP Recovery media to recover the operating system and drivers that were installed at the factory. On select products, you can create recovery media on a bootable USB flash drive using the HP Cloud Recovery Download Tool.

Changing the computer boot order If your computer does not restart using the HP Recovery media, you can change the computer boot order, which is the order of devices listed in BIOS for startup information. You can select an optical drive or a USB flash drive, depending on the location of your HP Recovery media.
