Connecting the 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet LAN and WAN cables The OnSite 2888 has automatic MDX (auto-crossover) detection and configuration on all Ethernet ports. Any of the ports can be connected to a host or hub/switch with a straight-through or cross-over wired cable.

Use the RJ45 straight-through cable between the adapter and the console port on the 2888.

In general, the OnSite will connect to the network via the LAN (ETH 0) port. This enables the OnSite to offer routing services to the PC hosts on LAN (ETH 1) port.
