INTRODUCTION The ACC-961 programming software is used in conjunction with the ACC-2006 Interface Module and enables the parameters of Maxon’s SM-6000 radio to be read, modified, programmed and printed. ACC-961 Personality Programmer HARDWARE INSTALLATION Installing The Hardware Installing the ACC-2006 Make sure that your computer is turned off. Locate the serial communications port on the computer. This port will usually be located at the rear of the com- puter. However, since this is dependent upon the design of your computer refer to the computer operator’s manual for directions.

ACC-961 Personality Programmer Once located, insert the RS-232 Serial Communications Cable into the appropriate serial port on the computer. Connect the other end of the cable to the DB-25 connector on the ACC-2006 Interface Module. (Refer to “Figure 6. Computer Input Side” on page 4). Connecting the SM-6000 Connect the SM-6000 Programming Cable to the radio and insert the other end of the cable into the jack labeled “Mobile”, located on the ACC-2006 Interface Module.

ACC-961 Personality Programmer MENU BAR Figure 10: Menu Bar The menu bar is provided to allow easy navigation from anywhere within the program. The menu bar consists of pull down menus that allow the user to go directly from one function to another. Options can be selected by using the Alt- key combinations listed.

ACC-961 Personality Programmer TAB DESCRIPTIONS Radio Wide Parameters that affect the entire radio will be found in the Radio Wide Tab. Volume Settings Volume settings allow you to provide a specified operating range for volume levels for your customers. The volume settings for both alerts and voice range from 0 to 15.

ACC-961 Personality Programmer Conventional Scan Type Used only in Conventional operation. This will determine what channels will be scanned and whether the radio will be able to transmit back to a calling station. Talk Back Scan: Talk Back Scan will scan for carrier on every channel in the dealer programmable scan list.

ACC-961 Personality Programmer Various Timers TX Time-out Time (sec.)/TX Inhibit Time (sec.): (TX Time-out Timer Default 65s, TX Inhibit Default 5s)TX Inhibit Time and TX Time-out time work together. TX Time-out time controls how long the user may continuously transmit the radio before the radio automatically disengages the RF power amp. If dealer programmed, the radio will issue a beep 5 seconds before it will automatically shut off the RF PA.

ACC-961 Personality Programmer Call Missed: Call Missed simply logs all valid calls the radio user misses. The call missed feature can be used to log both non-scan and scanned calls and functions independent of system selection. Missed con- ventional squelch calls will not be cataloged. Only CTCSS, DCS, TT calls will be cataloged. The call missed feature will log up to eight missed calls.

ACC-961 Personality Programmer DCS: This receive and transmit squelch option uses sub-audible digitally coded numbers. During receive operation, not only is sufficient signal strength required to unmute the radio, but the pro- grammed DCS code must be present as well. This allows for many people to use a system without intruding on one another.

ACC-961 Personality Programmer LTR System Tab System Features Auto Group Scan: This LTR scan feature is identical to manual group scan. The only difference is that the SCAN button need not be pressed in order to activate the feature. The user simply selects any group in the system and the radio will immediately begin scanning the repeater for the selected group's ID and those ID's in the system's scan list.

ACC-961 Personality Programmer Repeaters Tab In the repeater setup page you may enter receive and transmit frequencies for each repeater in your system. Note that each RX/TX pair is associated with a repeater number. Each repeater field also supports channel spacing and power level settings.

ACC-961 Personality Programmer REPEATER OPERATION A combination of two SM-6000 series radios can be used to form a conventional repeater. One radio will be the receiving radio and one will be the transmitting radio. Special programming is required for these radios to interact as a repeater.

Enter the receiving frequency of the repeater. 3. Set the Channel Spacing (S) for standard (25KHz) channel spacing and (N) for narrow (12.5KHz) channel spacing.
