Table 3-2 lists (in alphabetical order) system messages that can appear on the
monitor screen. These messages can help you find the source of a problem.
Some of these messages indicate fatal errors. When a fatal error occurs, the
system cannot usually be rebooted until an appropriate hardware change has
been made.
Attempted to run
system with more
than six hard-disk
drives and only one
power supply
Faulty diskette/tape
drive subsystem or
hard-disk drive sub-
system (defective
system board)
Combination of un-
buffered and
registered DIMMs
installed
Diskette drive or
hard-disk drive con-
troller cannot send
data to associated
drive
Mouse cable con-
nector loose or
improperly
connected;
defective mouse
Faulty diskette/tape
drive subsystem or
hard-disk drive sub-
system (defective
system board)
Install a PSPB with addi-
tional power supplies.
Replace the system
board.
Replace one or more
DIMMs so that all
DIMMs are the same
type. See "Installing
DIMMs" and "Removing
DIMMs" in Chapter 8 of
the system's Installation
and Troubleshooting
Guide .
Replace the drive's inter-
face cable.
Check the mouse cable
connection. If the prob-
lem persists, replace the
mouse.
Replace the system
board.
