With the throttle twistgrip, accelerate and
decelerate repeatedly to check correct
operation and if the idling speed remains
stable.
NOTE
To avoid carburetion adjustment
variations, do not use the air adjusting
screw.
If necessary, contact an Official aprilia
Dealer.

carefully.
There should be 0.079-0.118 inch. (2-3
mm) free play in the throttle twistgrip cable
(measured at twistgrip edge).
If not so:
Place the motorcycle on the center
stand.
Take off the rubber gaiter (6).
Loosen the locknut (7).
Rotate the adjuster (8) until setting the
specified free play.
After adjusting, tighten the locknut (7)
and check free play again.
Refit the rubber gaiter (6).

Turn the handlebar and make sure that
idling speed is unaffected by handlebar
movement. Open the throttle and make
sure that the twistgrip springs back to
the closed position smoothly and
gradually when released.

SPARK PLUG

carefully.
Check the spark plug every 3,750 mi
(6,000 km) and change it every 7,500 mi
(12,000 Km).
At regular intervals, remove the spark plug
and clean off any carbon deposits or
replace as required.
In order to gain access to the spark plug:
Remove the left inspection cover, see
page 73 (REMOVING THE RIGHT AND
LEFT INSPECTION COVERS).
