Installing the Driver

* If you are using Windows XP, log on as a user that has administrative privileges (e.g., Administrator).
1. As described in Getting Connected and Installing Drivers (Windows) (p. 14) and Getting
Connected and Installing Drivers (Macintosh) (p. 24), install only one unit.
* Do not connect the second and third UM-3EX units.
2. Temporarily disconnect the first UM-3EX unit from the computer.
3. Connect and make settings for the second and third UM-3EX units.
1. On the second and third UM-3EX units, set the MODE select switch to SLAVE.
2. On the second and third UM-3EX units, set the UNIT number select switch to 2 or 3.
3. Connect the second and third UM-3EX units to the UM-3EX connector of the first unit.
4. Connect the first UM-3EX unit to the computer.
Windows XP users:
5. The Found New Hardware Wizard dialog box will appear.
If the message "Connect to Windows Update to search for software?" appears, choose "No" and
then click [Next].
6. Choose "Search for the best driver in these locations" and click [Next].
If a dialog box with an "!" or "x" symbol will appear, click [Continue Anyway] to proceed with the
installation. If you are unable to continue, click [OK] and make "Driver Signing Options" (p. 16),
repeat step 4.
7. The Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard dialog box will appear.
Click [Finish].
8. If the Found New Hardware Wizard dialog box appears again, repeat steps 5–8.
This completes driver installation.
Mac OS X users:
This completes driver installation.
Make driver settings for the second and third UM-3EX units as described in "Setting the driver" (p.
27).
