The operating instructions constitute part of this product. They contain important information on safety, use and disposal. Before using the product, familiarise yourself with all of the operating and safety instructions. Use the product only as described and for the applications specified. Keep this manual safely and in the event that the product is passed on, hand over all documents to the third party.

Intended Use

The device is suitable for removing coats of paint on small surfaces, for heating (for example, shrink tubing), and for plastic deformation and welding. It can be used to loosen adhesive joint and defrost water pipes. This equipment is not suitable for commercial use. Commercial use will invalidate the guarantee. Any other use that is not explicitly approved in these instructions may result in damage to the equipment and represent a serious danger to the user. The use of the device in the rain or a damp environment is prohibited. The manufacturer is not liable for damage which is caused through inappropriate use or incorrect operation. The device is part of the X 20 V TEAM series and can be operated using X 20 V TEAM series batteries. The batteries may only be charged using chargers from the X 20 V TEAM series.

warningThis device may cause serious injury if used improperly. To avoid personal injury and damage to property, read and comply with the following safety instructions and familiarise yourself with all control elements.

This is how to avoid accidents and injuries:

Preparation

  • This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device.
  • The operator or user is responsible for any accidents or personal injury and/or material damage to third parties or their property.
  • Only use spare parts and accessories which are supplied and recommended by the manufacturer. Using externally produced parts results in the immediate loss of the warranty claim.
  • The device must always be kept clean, dry and free of oil or lubricating greases.

    This is how to avoid damage to the equipment and possible personal injuries resulting from this:

Using the device

  • Do not use the device in the rain. Only work in daylight or at good light.
  • If you are tired or lacking in concentration or have consumed alcohol or tablets, do not work with the device. Always have a break on time. Work using common sense.
  • Never leave the device unattended at the workplace. Remove the mains plug from the socket when not in use as well as when taking a break from working or while carrying out work on the device, e.g. changing the nozzle.
  • A fire can develop if the device is not handled carefully.
    • Be careful when using the devices near flammable materials.
    • Do not point at the same location for an extended period of time.
    • Do not use in the presence of an explosive atmosphere.
    • Heat can be passed to flammable materials that are hidden.
    • After using the device, put it on the stand and allow it to cool down before it is packed away.
    • Do not leave the device unattended as long as it is in operation.
  • In the case of danger, remove the battery from the device immediately.
  • Never use the device as a hair dryer.
  • Never direct the hot air flow at people or animals.
  • Do not look directly into the nozzle opening on the blow-off pipe.
  • Do not touch the nozzle when it is hot.
  • Maintain distance between the nozzle outlet and the surface or workpiece you are working on. The device could overheat.
  • Remove the battery from the device,
    • before you charge the battery.
    • when storing for longer periods.
  • Avoid short circuiting the poles.

Additional safety instructions

  • Do not use any accessories that are not recommended by PARKSIDE. This can result in electric shock or fire.

warningObserve the safety information and notes on charging and proper use as shown in the instruction manual for your battery and charger from the X 20 V TEAM series. A detailed description of the charging process and further information can be found in the separate operating instructions.

Initial start-up

When used for the first time, some smoke may escape. The smoke is caused by binders which are removed from the insulating film of the heater by the heat during first use. To ensure that the smoke escapes quickly, the device should be placed on the stand area.
Be sure to ventilate the working environment during first use.
If the smoke/odour is too strong, move the initial start-up to outside!

  1. To remove the battery (11) from the device, press the release button (11a) on the battery and pull the battery (11) out.
  2. To insert the battery (11), push the battery (11) along the guide rail into the device. You will hear it click into place.

Switching ON and OFF

  1. Press and hold the switch lock (4).
  2. Press and hold the On/Off switch (3). The LED work light (16) lights up. You can release the switch lock (4).
    The device saves the level you were working in and starts back up in the most recently used level.
  1. To switch off, release the on/off button (3).

informationThe position as a floor-mounted appliance (15) in a switched off state is ideally suited to allowing the device to cool down after use. The device also features a cool down function. To activate it, press and hold the "P/COOL DOWN" button for 5 seconds. A 40 second countdown begins and the device switches off automatically when it has finished. Pressing the "P/COOL DOWN" button again cancels the cool down process and immediately switches off the device.

Controlling the air volume and temperature
The air volume and temperature can be controlled via the control panel (19). The selected setting is shown in the LCD display (18).

Temperature setting
The temperature can be adjusted in the switched off state.
The left and right buttons on the control panel (19) (see next figure also) can be used to set the temperature at 10 degree intervals.

Increase temperature.
Reduce temperature.

LCD display

  • displays the selected air volume
  • displays the selected temperature
  • displays the current temperature

LCD illuminated red = Pre-heating phase
LCD illuminated green = Preset temperature reached
LCD flashing blue = Cool down function
The device has a memory function. The LCD display shows the last set temperature and saves it automatically after 2 seconds (display flashes).

Setting the air volume
The air volume can be adjusted to between 150 and 300 l per minute (6 stages).

Increase air volume.
Reduce air volume.

Programme mode (P)

In addition to normal operation, the appliance also has a programme mode. Press the "P/COOL DOWN" button on the control panel (19) briefly for the programme mode. Pressing the "P/COOL DOWN" button again takes you to the individual programmes (P1, P2, P3, P4), which you can set and save individually. Pressing it again takes you back to normal operation.
informationThe setting is automatically saved after 2 seconds (display flashes).

  1. Unscrew the top nut (17) from the handle (6).
  2. Place the metal triangle (5) onto the lower nut.
  3. Screw the top nut back on in order to tighten the metal triangle.

Use of adapter nozzles

warningBefore exchanging adapter nozzles, the adapter nozzle (8/9/10) and blow-off pipe (1) must be sufficiently cooled down to avoid burns.
informationVarious uses are possible. Always comply with the safety instructions and always handle the device with care and caution.

Restrictor
Place the restrictor (10) on the blow-off pipe (1). Use the restrictor (10) to obtain selective heat.
informationWhen using the restrictor (11), pay particular attention to the heat development at the cutting point. If in doubt, do not stay in the same place for too long in order to avoid overheating the workpiece.

Surface nozzle
Place the surface nozzle (8) on the blow-off pipe (1). Use the surface nozzle (8) to obtain heat over a large surface.
informationWhen using the surface nozzle (8), pay particular attention to the heat development in adjacent locations of the cutting point. So that in cases of doubt, no adjacent component is overheated.

Reflector nozzle
Place the reflector nozzle (9) on the blowoff pipe (1). Use the reflector nozzle to solder and tin pipes, as well as to shrink shrink tubing.

Paint scraper
Heat up the paint and lacquer surfaces, using an adapter nozzle if necessary. The paints and lacquers can be removed with the paint scraper (7). The adapter nozzles (8/9/10) themselves are not suitable for removing paint.

Connecting the device to the Parkside app

informationOnly Smart Performance batteries can be connected to the Parkside app. The device connects to the app via the battery.

  1. Place Smart Performance batteries ( 11) in the device. You will hear them click into place.
  2. Press the button for the charge level indicator (3). The device is now activated and the Smart LED (14) flashes (briefly).
  3. Enable Bluetooth ® on your smartphone.
  4. Open the Parkside app.
  5. Select .
    informationIf you have already connected the Smart Performance battery you are using the device with to the app, you will find the device in the list of connected devices.
  6. Select the device from the list.

informationIf it is not available, pair the device with the app as follows:

  1. Select " Add device" or, if you have already paired devices/batteries, the at the top right.
  2. Follow the instructions in the app. The app scans the surroundings for available devices.
  3. Select the device you wish to add.
  4. You can rename the device if necessary. Confirm the successful pairing with "Done" or select "Add more devices" directly.

The device is now listed under in your paired devices and can be selected.

General cleaning and maintenance work

  • Always keep the device clean. Use a brush or cloth for cleaning, but do not use any cleaning agents or solvents.

Storage

  • Store the appliance in a dry place well out of reach of children.
  • Give the device time to cool down before you store the device in an enclosed space.
  • Use the supplied storage case (13).
