Using the Chinese input*

When you have set Chinese as the
display text language in the menu 4-3-
1, you can use the Chinese input for
• writing text messages of up to 70
characters
• for storing Chinese names in phone
book
• for writing calendar notes.
• for writing the welcome note and
renaming some Profile names.
The Chinese input method supports a
large character set of commonly used
Chinese characters: BIG5 level 1 in
Traditional Chinese and GB2312 in
Simplified Chinese.
The following input methods may be
available when Chinese is set as the
display text language:
Pinyin
Zhuyin/
/Bopo
MoFo
Stroke
Number

The default input method for Simplified
Chinese is Pinyin and for Traditional
Chinese Zhuyin/BoPoMoFo.
To change the input method: press
repeatedly until the symbol for the
preferred input type is displayed. You
can also change between the character
and number input by pressing and
holding
.
When you key in Chinese characters by
pressing number keys (as described
later in this section), the phone
automatically displays a list of
candidate Chinese characters in the
character bar displayed in the far right
of the display. Roll with Navi Roller to
the desired character and press Navi
Roller to select it.
