dpi
"dpi (dots per inch)" is a unit used to measure the resolution of printers
or scanners. This unit refers to the number of dots to represent1 inch. The
larger the dpi value, the greater the reproduced image quality.

Encoding method (MH, MR, MMR, JBIG)
When sending data by fax, it is compressed. The following types of
compression are possible.
"MH (modified Huffmann)":
"MH (modified Reed)":
"MH (Modified modified Reed)": Enhancement of the MH processing
"JBIG" :
This is a compression that, for example,
when white or black points appear
consecutively, performs one-dimensional
on each scanned row using a distribution
of how many black dots appear in a row.
In addition to the processing in the main
scanning direction that is used with the
MH technique, it uses the correlation
with the secondary scanning direction
for higher efficiency 2-dimensional
compression. Compared to the MH
technique, it has higher compression
efficiency and is effective for simple
pictures in which the same type of line
continues.
in MH which improves compression.
Compared to the MH technique, the
compression ratio is higher, but on the
other hand it is vulnerable to noise, so
it is only used for procedures for which
error stopping is possible, such as ECM.
This is a data compression technique
that encodes 2-bit images. JBIG makes
possible transmission in stages in
which the image is transmitted in such
a way that the general contents can
be seen, and then the detail is filled in
gradually to clean up the image. There
are also compression methods which use
arithmetic coding. They are effective for
images such as photographs (half-tone
images).
