    Fachpersonal festgelegt. Masken Die VORTEX Masken sind ein Zubehör für die Therapie mit einer PARI Inhalierhilfe. Sie er- möglichen es, Aerosol durch Mund und Nase zu inhalieren. Die PARI Erwachsenenmaske soft ist ein Zubehör für die Inhalationstherapie. Sie ermöglicht es, Aerosol durch Mund und Nase zu inhalieren.

    1.5 Sicherheits- und Warnhinweise Die vorliegende Gebrauchsanweisung enthält wichtige Informationen, Sicherheitshinweise und Vorsichtsmaßnahmen. Nur wenn der Anwender diese befolgt, kann dieses PARI Pro- dukt sicher angewendet werden. Verwenden Sie dieses PARI Produkt nur wie in dieser Gebrauchsanweisung beschrieben. Die Gebrauchsinformation des verwendeten Dosieraerosols muss ebenfalls beachtet wer- den.

    2.3 Funktionsbeschreibung Die VORTEX unterstützt den Patienten dabei, das Medikament aus einem Dosieraerosol gleichmäßig und vollständig einzuatmen. Das Medikament wird in die Inhalierkammer gesprüht. Dort verteilt es sich gleichmäßig und kann mit einem oder mehreren Atemzügen vom Patienten abgeatmet werden. Dadurch ent- fällt die zeitkritische Koordination von Auslösen und Inhalieren.

    ANWENDUNG 3.1 Funktionskontrolle Überprüfen Sie nach Erhalt der VORTEX, ob das Ventil im Mundstück durchlässig ist: • Lassen Sie Trinkwasser von oben in das Mundstück laufen. Das Wasser sollte aus den seitlichen Öffnun- gen im Mundstück wieder austreten. • Lassen Sie Trinkwasser von unten durch das Mund- stück laufen.
  • Page 14 WARNUNG Erstickungsgefahr durch Einatmen von Kleinteilen Die Inhalierkammer der VORTEX ist nicht vollständig geschlossen. Dadurch besteht die Gefahr, dass Kleinteile hineingeraten können, die beim Inhalieren mit eingeatmet werden. • Stellen Sie deshalb vor jeder Benutzung sicher, dass sich keine Fremdkörper im Inne- ren der VORTEX befinden.

    Ventile sichtbar öffnen. Mit Mundstück inhalieren • Ziehen Sie die Schutzkappe vom Mundstück der VORTEX ab. • Nehmen Sie das Mundstück zwischen die Zähne und umschließen Sie es mit den Lippen. • Beginnen Sie langsam und tief durch den Mund ein- zuatmen.

    4.4 Reinigen Vorreinigen Alle Einzelteile müssen unmittelbar nach der Anwendung vorgereinigt werden. AUSSTATTUNG: – Trinkwasser mit einer Temperatur von ca. 15 °C DURCHFÜHRUNG: • Spülen Sie alle verwendeten Einzelteile 2 Minuten lang unter fließendem Trinkwasser.   • Page 22 In der Geschirrspülmaschine Die Einzelteile können in einer haushaltsüblichen Geschirrspülmaschine gereinigt werden, sofern diese an Leitungswasser mit Trinkwasserqualität angeschlossen ist. Für den sicheren Umgang mit dem verwendeten Reinigungsmittel beachten Sie die entspre- chende Gebrauchsinformation, insbesondere die darin enthaltenen Sicherheitshinweise. DURCHFÜHRUNG: Reinigen Sie die Einzelteile nicht zusammen mit stark verschmutztem Geschirr.

    4.5 Desinfizieren Desinfizieren Sie alle Einzelteile im Anschluss an die Reinigung. Nur gereinigte Bestandteile können wirksam desinfiziert werden. Nachfolgend sind die validierten Desinfektionsverfah- ren beschrieben.   • Page 24 Mit einem handelsüblichen, thermischen Desinfektionsgerät für Babyflaschen (keine Mikrowelle) AUSSTATTUNG: – Thermisches Desinfektionsgerät mit einer Laufzeit von mindestens 6 Minuten DURCHFÜHRUNG: VORSICHT Infektionsgefahr durch unzureichende Desinfektion Eine unzureichende Desinfektion begünstigt Keimwachstum und erhöht damit die Infekti- onsgefahr. • Stellen Sie vor jeder Desinfektion sicher, dass das Desinfektionsgerät sauber und funk- tionsfähig ist.

    4.6 Trocknen Stellen Sie sicher, dass keine Restnässe in den Einzelteilen vorhanden ist. Ggf.: • Schütteln Sie das Wasser aus allen Einzelteilen. • Legen Sie alle Einzelteile auf eine trockene, saubere und saugfähige Unterlage und lassen Sie sie vollständig trocknen und auskühlen. Die Inhalierkammer kann mit einem sauberen, fusselfreien Tuch getrocknet werden.

    5.4 Reinigen und Desinfizieren HINWEIS Beschädigung des Produktes durch materialunverträgliche Reinigungs- und Desin- fektionsmittel Nicht alle Reinigungs- und Desinfektionsmittel sind für die Materialien der Produktbe- standteile geeignet. Ungeeignete Mittel können das Produkt beschädigen und unbrauch- bar machen. • Prüfen Sie vor dem Reinigen und Desinfizieren die Verträglichkeit des verwendeten Reinigungs- bzw.
  • Page 29 Desinfektionsmittel können bei Hautkontakt allergische Reaktionen oder Schleimhautirri- tationen auslösen. • Spülen Sie das Produkt gründlich, so dass keine Rückstände des Desinfektionsmittels auf dem PARI Produkt zurückbleiben. • Spülen Sie alle Einzelteile gründlich unter fließendem Wasser ca. 15 °C für 3 Minuten ab.

    Maskenstabilisator, da sich durch die hohen Temperaturen die Passform der Maske verändern kann. Ein Maskenstabilisator ist nicht für die VORTEX Kindermaske und die VORTEX Baby- maske  erforderlich. • Setzen Sie ggf. den Maskenstabilisator entsprechend der Abbildung in die Maske ein.

    5.6 Trocknen Stellen Sie sicher, dass keine Restnässe in den Einzelteilen vorhanden ist.     1.1 Intended purpose VORTEX The VORTEX is a holding chamber. It is used in conjunction with medication sprays, the so called metered dose inhalers for treatment of the lower airways. The VORTEX is designed for treatment of patients in all age groups (an appropriate mask is needed for treating babies and infants).

    For patients who cannot inhale using a mouthpiece, or if inhalation via mask is preferred. Together with a holding chamber, the mask forms a system. The indication for this system is the same as the indication for the holding chamber used. 1.3 Contraindication There are no contraindications known to PARI GmbH.

    The user must follow these in order to guarantee safe operation of this PARI product. This PARI product must be used only as described in these instructions for use. The instructions for use of the metered dose inhaler used must also be followed.
  • Page 41 Treatment of babies, infants, and anyone who requires assistance For individuals who are not able to perform the therapy session without assistance or cannot appreciate the hazards, the risk of injury is greater. Such individuals include for example ba- bies, children and people with limited capabilities. For these individuals, a person respons- ible for safety must supervise or carry out the application.

    2.3 Description of function The VORTEX helps the patient to inhale the medication from a metered dose inhaler evenly and completely. The medication is sprayed into the inhalation chamber. There it is dispersed uniformly and can be inhaled completely by the patient in a few breaths. Consequently, it is not so import- ant to coordinate the timing of releasing and inhaling the medication.

    3.1 Function check After receiving the VORTEX, check that the path through the valve in the mouthpiece is un- obstructed: • Let the drinking water run out into the mouthpiece from the top. The water should escape through the side openings in the mouthpiece.

    WARNING Risk of suffocation by breathing in small parts The VORTEX inhalation chamber is not completely closed. As a result, there is a risk that small parts can get into it, which can be breathed in during inhalation. • Therefore, make sure there are no foreign bodies inside the VORTEX before every use.

    • Please note: The lateral valves must open visibly when exhaling. Inhaling with the mouthpiece • Take the protective cap off the mouthpiece of the VORTEX. • Hold the mouthpiece between your teeth and enclose it with your lips. • Begin breathing in slowly and deeply through the mouth.
  • Page 50 • Take note of possible side effects caused by escaping aerosol. These are described in the information for use of the respective medication. Inhaling with the VORTEX baby mask: • Place the VORTEX with mask on the face • Observe your child’s respiratory flow. • Just before your child breathes in the next time, press the metered dose inhaler to release a puff.
  • Page 51 Use of the one-handed operation aid The one-handed operation aid is used to make it easier to actuate the metered dose inhaler: • Place your hand around the VORTEX so that your fingers are resting lightly on the one- handed operation aid.

    4.3 Preparation • Take the metered dose inhaler out of the connecting ring on the inhalation chamber and close it with the protective cap provided for this purpose. • Dismantle the VORTEX into its individual components. • Open the protective cap.

    4.4 Cleaning Precleaning All individual parts must be precleaned immediately after use. EQUIPMENT: – Drinking water temperature of about 15 °C PROCEDURE: • Rinse all parts used for 2 minutes in running drinking water. Manual cleaning EQUIPMENT: – Drinking water temperature of about 40 °C –...
  • Page 54 In the dishwasher The individual parts can be cleaned in a standard household dishwasher provided it is con- nected to a mains water supply of drinking water quality. To ensure safety when handling the cleaning agent used, follow the corresponding instruc- tions for use, particularly the accompanying safety instructions.

    4.5 Disinfecting Disinfect all individual parts after cleaning. Only components that have been cleaned can be disinfected effectively. The validated disinfection procedures are described below. In boiling water EQUIPMENT: – Clean cooking pot – Drinking water PROCEDURE: CAUTION Risk of infection due to moisture Moisture encourages the growth of bacteria.
  • Page 56 Using a standard thermal disinfector for baby bottles (not a microwave oven) EQUIPMENT: – Thermal disinfector with a runtime of at least 6 minutes PROCEDURE: CAUTION Risk of infection due to inadequate disinfection Inadequate disinfection encourages the growth of bacteria and thus increases the risk of infection.

    4.6 Drying Ensure that there is no residual moisture remaining in the components. If necessary: • Shake the water out of all of the parts. • Place all parts on a dry, clean and absorbent surface and allow them to dry and cool com- pletely.

    5.3 Preparation • Take the metered dose inhaler out of the connecting ring on the inhalation chamber and close it with the protective cap provided for this purpose. • Dismantle the VORTEX into its individual components. • Open the protective cap.

    5.4 Cleaning and disinfecting NOTE Damage to the product caused by cleaning agents and disinfectants that are in- compatible with the material Not all cleaning agents and disinfectants are suitable for use on the materials and product components. Unsuitable agents can damage the product and render it unusable. •...
  • Page 61 Disinfectants can trigger allergic reactions or irritation of the mucous membrane on con- tact with the skin. • Rinse the product thoroughly to ensure that no residues of the disinfectant remain on the PARI product. • Rinse off all parts thoroughly in running water at about 15 °C for 3 minutes.

    The VORTEX child mask and the VORTEX baby mask do not require a mask stabiliser. • If necessary, insert the mask stabiliser into the mask as shown in the illustration.
