Installation
Install the Server Network Card
WARNING!
Static Electricity can severely damage Network Cards. Ensure that you are adequately
grounded before you open your Host Server Case or touch the Server Network Card.
You should wear an Anti-Static Strap or use an Anti-Static Mat when installing any
computer component. If an Anti-Static Strap isn't available, discharge any built-up
static electricity by touching a large Grounded Metal Surface for several seconds. Only
handle the Server Network Card by its edges and do not touch the gold connectors.
1. Turn off the Host Server and any Peripheral Devices that are connected to it (e.g.
printers, external hard drives, etc.).
2. Unplug the Power Cable from the back of the Host Server, and disconnect any
Peripheral Devices that are connected.
3. Remove the Cover from the Server Case. Consult the documentation that came with
the Host Server for details about doing this safely.
4. Locate an open OCP NIC 3.0 Slot and remove the corresponding Slot Cover Plate
from the back of the Host Server.
5. Gently insert the Server Network Card into the OCP NIC 3.0 Slot. Turn the Locking
Screw to attach the Server Network Card to the back of the Server Case/Chassis.
6. Return the Cover onto the Host Server.
7. Install one or more SFP/SFP+ Modules, Active Optical Cables, or Direct Attach
Copper Cables into the available SFP+ Slots.
8. Reconnect all of the Peripheral Devices disconnected in Step 2.
9. Reconnect the Power Cable to the back of the Host Server.
10. Turn on the Host Server and Peripheral Devices.
