Stellaris® Intelligent Display Module with 3.5"
Landscape Display (IDM-L35) RDK
Stellaris reference design kits (RDKs) from Texas Instruments accelerate product
development by providing ready-to-run hardware, example software, and comprehensive
documentation including hardware design files. The Intelligent Display Module with 3.5"
Landscape Display (IDM-L35) is a highly integrated QVGA touch-panel module for
automation and instrumentation applications. The compact design is based on the LM3S1958
Stellaris microcontroller. The example applications include source code exercising the various
peripherals provided on the module and illustrating use of the Stellaris® Peripheral Driver
Library and Stellaris® Graphics Library. Development of software for the IDM-L35 is
simplified by using StellarisWare® software and ARM development tools from our tools
partners.
Installing and Using the IDM-L35 RDK
Kit Contents
The IDM-L35 RDK includes the following items:
• Intelligent 3.5" Landscape QVGA Touch Panel (MDL-IDM-L35) with metal standoffs
• JTAG debug adapter (20-pin to 10-pin)
• USB-to-TTL serial cable
• Reference Design Kit CD containing this Quickstart Guide, a User's Manual, example
source code, peripheral driver library, graphics library, and hardware design files

- Page 2 I D M - L 3 5 R D K Q U I C K S T A R T Quickstart Application The IDM-L35 RDK comes preprogrammed with a quickstart application. Once you have powered the board, this application runs automatically. The application provides a security keypad to allow access to a door.
- Page 3 I D M - L 3 5 R D K Q U I C K S T A R T Installing the Virtual COM Port Driver 1. When you plug in the USB-to-serial cable for the first time, Windows starts the Found New Hardware Wizard and asks if it should attempt to install the software automatically or from a specified location.

If you installed the software to the default installation path of C:\StellarisWare, you can find the example applications for the IDM-L35 in “C:\StellarisWare \boards\rdk-idm-l35”.
