VPS 504
Installation Manual
The Valve Proving System VPS 504 checks that both safety shutoff valves in a DMV 700 combustion gas train are fully
closed before either a system start-up or after shutdown when wired and interlocked with a suitable flame monitoring
relay as shown in the wiring diagrams on page 2. The VPS 504 will halt the start-up sequence to a burner if it detects an
open safety shutoff valve, thus preventing ignition under dangerous conditions.

l Never perform work if gas pressure or power is
applied, or in the presence of an open flame.
l Protect surfaces. Make sure that seals and O-
rings are clean and in good condition.
l Once installed, perform a complete checkout in-
cluding a gas leak test.
l Label all wires prior to disconnection when ser-
vicing VPS 504. Wiring errors can cause improper
and dangerous operation.
l Verify proper operation after servicing.
Mounting
The gas supply must be shut off and the DMV 700 series
valve must be de-energized before mounting the VPS 504.
Disconnect all power to the valves and the valve proving
system before beginning to prevent electrical shock and
equipment damage.
Recommended Mounting Procedure
•
Use the M 4 x 15 mm self tapping socket head screws
supplied with the VPS 504 to cut the threads in the 4
predrilled holes in the side of the DMV valve body at the
desired mounting position.
