    This User Manual describes the normal use of the unit. Note: Report serious incidents with the product to your local dealer or Erbe. If you are a user in the European Union, also report incidents to the responsible authority in your Member State.

    Safety Features Neutral electrode monitoring The VIO 50 C/VIO 100 C is equipped with a neutral electrode monitoring system. The neutral electrode monitoring system monitors the electrical connection between the neutral electrode and the unit for single and dual surface neutral electrodes. The skin contact is also monitored for dual surface neutral electrodes.

    3 • Safety Features Automatic monitoring of the ON time With proper use, a high-frequency generator is only briefly activated to carry out a cut or coagulation using a fingerswitch, pedal or AUTO START. This generally only takes a few seconds.

To optimally utilize the unit's monitoring functions, Erbe recommends connecting a dual surface electrode, and in particular the Erbe NESSY Omega electrode. Apart from many other advantages, this electrode virtually eliminates any possibility of excessive heating of the tissue and skin at the edges of the electrode.

If you per- form long activation phases without the appropriate cooling phases, there may be gradual heating under the neutral electrode or the unit may be damaged.
