Listening to the playback sounds from the
connected equipment

. Use a connection cable to connect the unit to the AUX IN, PHONO or DIGITAL IN jack.

. Press the POWER button to turn the power on.

. Press the AUX button to select "AUX", "PHONO" or "AUX OPT.".

. Play the connected equipment.

. If you have selected "AUX", adjust the input level using the 3 or 2 button.
The "OVER" indicator should not light at the maximum level.
You cannot adjust the input level of the equipment connected to the "PHONO"
or "AUX OPT." jack.
Recording on a tape

. Use a connection cable to connect the unit to the AUX IN, PHONO or DIGITAL IN jack.

. Press the POWER button to turn the power on.

. Insert the cassette in the compartment.

. Press the AUX button to select "AUX", "PHONO" or "AUX OPT.".

. Press the TAPE REC button.

. Play the connected equipment.

. If you have selected "AUX", adjust the input level using the 3 or 2 button.
You cannot adjust the input level of the equipment connected to the "PHONO"
or "AUX OPT." jack.

. Press the 06 or 1 button to start recording.
Recording on a CD-R disc

. Use a connection cable to connect the unit to the AUX IN, PHONO or DIGITAL IN jack.

. Press the POWER button to turn the power on.

. Press the AUX button to select "AUX", "PHONO" or "AUX OPT.".

. Press the CD-R/CD-RW eject button to open the tray.
5
. Place the CD-R or CD-RW disc on the tray. Close the tray.

. Press the REC MODE button.
S. SYNC REC: Recording starts automatically with sound input.
MANUAL REC: After pressing the 06 button, recording will start.
Select one of the above recording types using the jog dial. Then, press the
ENTER button.

. If you have selected "MANUAL REC", you can turn on or off it using the AUTO
MARKER button. (When you have selected "S.SYNC REC", auto mark function will
be turned on and no switching operation is possible.)
A. MARK ON:
Marks track numbers when sound stops for 3 seconds or longer.
A. MARK OFF: Does not mark track numbers.

. Press the CDR REC button.

. Press the 06 button to start recording.
When "S. SYNC REC" is selected, pressing the 06 button is unnecessary.
To mark track numbers while recording from the connected equip-
ment on the CD-R or CD-RW discs:
Press the CDR REC button during recording. The track number will be marked and the
displayed number will be increased by one.
Recording CD, CD-R or CD-RW signal on
MDs (digital output)
The digital signal from this unit can be recorded by MiniDisc recorders, etc.

. Remove the DIGITAL OUT jack cover.

. Use a connection cable for digital recording to connect the unit to the OPTICAL IN
jack of a MiniDisc recorder, etc.

. Press the POWER button to turn the power on.

. Put the MiniDisc recorder, etc. in the recording mode.

. Play a CD, CD-R or CD-RW disc on this unit.
Headphones
Before plugging in or unplugging the headphones, reduce the volume.
Be sure your headphones have a 1/8" (3.5 mm) diameter plug and are between 16
ohms and 50 ohms impedance. The recommended impedance is 32 ohms.
Plugging in the headphones disconnects the speakers automatically. Adjust the
volume using the VOLUME buttons.
