Description The MD-542 is an easy-to-use equipment. It uses an efficient well experienced technology, which provides reliable, safe and accurate measurements of insulation resistances up to 20,000 MΩ @ 500 V, with 3 test voltages: 100 V - 250 V - 500 V.
Key functions On / Off V Test - it allows to program the test voltage Timer - it allows to program the test duration LIM - it allows to program the limit of the “Pass- Fail test” These keys (decrease or increase) allowing the selection of the value that is being programmed TEST - start / stop the test Hold - press to freeze the displayed value.
Indicates the unit of measured value showed in the display. Indicate the selected test voltage Indicate that the Battery charger is in operation Power supply The MD-542 uses rechargeable NiMH batteries for power supply.
Charging the battery To recharge the battery: Check if the MD-542 is turned OFF. • Connect the equipment to the mains using the external • power supply. The battery led will keep on lightning with a red light up to completing the charge. At that point, it will change to a green light, being like this up to the equipment disconnection from the mains supply.
Low battery indication When the battery charge reach a minimum value, approximately 10%, the message “LO BAT” appears automatically in the display. Connecting the equipment Connect the MD-542 as follow: To measure: Low resistances To measure: Insulation resistances To measure:...

10,000 MΩ up to 10,000 MΩ up to 20,000 MΩ 7- The MD-542 has a built-in chronometer. To see the elapsed time since test voltage is applied, press the 8- To stop the test, press the key . The led...
4- Connect the test leads to the circuit to be measured. The display will show the resistance value. If the MD-542 detect a short-circuit or the reading is R < 5 ± 0.5 Ω, the equipment will indicate with a BEEP...
Auto-power-off The MD-542 automatically turns off after 5 minutes of non-use. In measurements with programmed time, the countdown of 5 minutes starts after the test conclusion. To turn the equipment back on, press the key Cleaning Cleaning of this instrument should be carried out using a soft cleaning liquid, after verifying that it doesn’t affect the...
