Safety Anaconda Twin 1.2.1 General safety instructions It is important that the driver and operator have responsibility for each other’s safety and for the safety of other persons in the vicinity of the vehicle. The vehicle must therefore never be left unattended with the engine running.
Safety Anaconda Twin portant that the RCV is operated with the greatest care and respect. Safety precautions when loading and compacting The following covers the safety precautions that must be taken when loading and compacting. The safety precautions regarding loading using a lifting device are not covered here, the descrip- tion applies for a standard version RCV.
Safety Anaconda Twin 2.1.3 Keep your body away from moving parts When loading refuse, the cylinders and plates move with great force. Keep your hands and body away from moving parts or objects that are in, or protruding from, the hopper.
Safety Anaconda Twin Figure 5, do not retract the tailgate if it can come into contact with electrical cables or similar 2.2.2 Clean the tailgate sealing edges after ejection If refuse gets caught between the body and the tailgate, the tailgate cannot be properly closed.
Safety Anaconda Twin Figure 7, lock hook in its lowest position 2.2.4 Avoid driving with an open tailgate Do not drive the vehicle further than absolutely necessary with an open tailgate. The stability and brake and steering characteristics of the vehicle are greatly impaired and the stresses on the tailgate mountings increase when the tailgate is open.
Safety Anaconda Twin Figure 9, avoid tilting more than 10° Safety during checks and maintenance The following sections cover the safety precautions that must be taken during checks and main- tenance of the RCV. All checks and maintenance must be carried out according to normal work- shop practice.
Safety Anaconda Twin be able to hold the weight of the tailgate including lift of 2,000kg (wide) respectively 1,600kg (narrow). Figure 11, example of vertical safety support 2.3.3 Never enter the body or tailgate with the engine running. Under no circumstances may personnel enter the body or the tailgate during operation. If you must enter the body to wash or inspect it for example, the engine must be switched off and the ignition key removed.
Safety Anaconda Twin 2.3.5 Work on the RCV roof Some service and maintenance work may need to be carried out on the roof of the RCV, which entails a falling risk. Actions to prevent falls must be taken prior to such work, e.g. can a work platform or safety line be used.
Page 25
Safety Anaconda Twin When the clearing button is pressed, an automatic operating cycle is started in the tailgate on the condition that the tailgate is in the fully open position. The movement occurs automatically im- mediately after the button is pressed. Figure 14 shows the symbol for the clearing button.
Safety Anaconda Twin Figure 17 shows the symbols for the emergency stop buttons. When an emergency stop button is pressed all moving functions stop immediately. No function, except rescue can start when the emergency stop is activated. A pulsed audible signal is heard in the cab to alert the driver to the emergency stop.
Safety Anaconda Twin NOTE! Never use a vehicle where defects have been found during pre-operation checks. Repair the vehicle before it is used again! Safety checks before each shift Sections 4.1.1-4.1.8, below indicate all the safety checks that should be carried out before each shift.

Safety Anaconda Twin 4.2.1 Main switch for superstructure electrical systems and hydraulic pump Check daily that the RCV is rendered completely inoperative when the RCV’s main electrical switch is turned off, i.e. that no electronically controlled functions can be operated. At the same time check that the power take off switches cut power take off current.
The speed that the tailgate falls at is determined by a stroke limiter of the slide’s movement via the control system. If the closing time is too short, the stroke limiter must be corrected immedi- ately. Contact an authorised JOAB service workshop for adjustment, because the function is an integral part of the RCV’s safety equipment.

RCV. The following section should be treated as a supplement to both these tabs and de- scribes the checks and maintenance work that are recommended in the daily work. JOAB bases this recommendation on the fact that continuous inspections contribute to a longer service life of a RCV and vehicle and that any faults are detected early on.
Operator’s instructions Anaconda Twin Checks The following checks must be carried out on the RCV daily in order to detect faults early on. A fault, which is detected early on, is often easier to rectify and often prevents more serious con- sequences.
Operator’s instructions Anaconda Twin Figure 56, oil level Corrective actions The RCV is reliable; however, there may still be a risk of malfunctions. If a fault should oc- cur follow the instructions below. Always bear safety in mind and do not carry out work more complicated than you can manage without a risk of accident, during work or during subsequent operation.
Note that this description only applies to standard version RCVs. Information about oil leakage in JOAB lifting devices can be found in tab 8, lifts. Information about other lifting de- vices can be found in the relevant manual for the lifting device. Instructions on extra equipment can be found in chapter 9, Supplementary equipment.

The narrow lift uses a mechanical bin catcher that is used for bins up to 370 litres. 1.1.4 Control system The hydraulic system for JOAB’s bin lifts is integrated with another hydraulic system, for com- paction and ejection. The lift’s valve section is supplied with pressure from the same pump that supplies the valve sections for compaction and ejection by pressure.
NOTE! JOAB’s bin lifts are designed with the user’s safety in mind. The user has the ultimate responsibility for operating safety. The user is responsible for ensuring that the lifting equipment is never used in association with risk-taking.
The moving parts of the lift move with great force, therefore, always keep your hands and body away from the lift when working. Figure 5, keep your hands and body away from the lift’s moving parts JOAB Recycling 6 (26) Version 1, 2013-04-25...
Incorrectly attached bins constitute a safely hazard. Operation The following chapter covers the operation of JOAB’s bin lifts. This chapter must be read in combination with the operation information and safety information for the entire RCV. Operating the bin lift The functions of the bin lift are operated via rotary switches and levers.
If the lever is pushed upwards, the bin lift moves upwards. If the lever is pushed down, the bin lift moves down. The movement stops if the lever is released. The JOAB Recycling 8 (26)
Bin catcher out function is operated and the bin catcher folds to its outer working position. Movement stops if the rotary switch is released and the operator can continu- ously check the cycle. The symbol for the rotary switch is shown in figure 12. JOAB Recycling 9 (26) Version 1, 2013-04-25...
5. Run the Bin lift down function to lower the bin to the ground again, continue the bin’s down- ward movement until the bin releases the lift’s suspension fixture. JOAB Recycling 10 (26) Version 1, 2013-04-25...

L77/37, L100/37 Corrective actions JOAB’s bin lifts achieve good operational safety, however, there may still be a risk of malfunc- tions. If a fault should occur follow the instructions below. Always bear safety in mind and do not carry out work more complicated than can be managed without a risk of accidents, during work or during subsequent operation.
Check that all screws and nuts are tightened. Lubrication Instructions JOAB’s bin lifts are designed for minimal maintenance. The lift’s bearings do not need to be lubricated as they are designed for maintenance free operation. However, corrosion can be pre-...
If the operating cycle time is significantly lower than above, the equipment may be faulty. If this is the case, contact an authorised JOAB workshop. The bin’s peripheral speed must not exceed 2.5 m/s according to EN-1501 measured on the outermost part of the bin.
