Insert the carriage bolts into the holes and lightly tap with a hammer until the square neck fit in the wood piece and the bolt head must flush with the wood piece. Step 4: Put up the interior single supports (4) into the post notches, as shown, and attach to the posts and to the in-between blocking with the previously installed bolts (tighten fully). Step 11: Attach the struts (1.5) to the rafters and to the collar tie with 2 ½” deck screws (DS1). After that, use 3/8” x 12’’ lag bolts (LB2) to attach to the collar tie together. Step 20: Use 3/8” x 8 ½” bolts (BL7) to attach the secondary knee braces (7) to the perimeter roof trusses and use 3/8” x 6 ½” bolts (BL5) to the central roof trusses.
