SPECIFIC INFORMATION
Category III Personal Protective Equipment 811.001 MEDALE 360 is:
- an Energy Absorbing System (EAS) for use in climbing on a
Via Ferrata, suitable for connecting the climber to the safety
line using an energy absorber to limit the impact forces on the
climber and the fi xed system;
- intended for users weighing no less than 40 kg (total weight
excluding equipment) and no more than 120 kg (total weight
including equipment). If the user is outside this weight range,
is required to walk roped up.
- certifi ed according to EN 958:2017 and UIAA 128.
Use
- Connect the loop (E) to the suitable attachment point of the
harness using a lark's foot knot (fi g. 1);
- insert both connectors (A) into the wire/safety line; holding
the elastic webbing (B) above the arm during progression
facilitates the use of the connectors and avoids dangerous
entanglements (fi g. 2);
- at the split point, clip one of the two connectors (A) to the upper
section, then insert the other and proceed (fi g. 3). Caution:
this is the most critical and dangerous moment, so make
sure you are in a stable and safe position.
Correct use of the rest loop (C): connect to the safety line or
anchor points of the Via Ferrata using a connector (fi g. 4).
Compatibility
This device is designed to be used with:
- harnesses conforming to EN 12277;
- connectors conforming to EN 12275 type K.
Caution, danger of death
- Do not connect to the safety line with only one connector (fi g. 5);
- do not climb a fraction at the same time as other persons (fi g. 6);
- do not tie knots in the elastic webbing legs (B) – (fi g. 7);
- do not connect to the harness via the rest loop (C) – (fi g. 8) or
the elastic webbing legs (B) – (fi g. 9);
- ensure that the user's head is not entangled in the elastic
webbing legs (B). Risk of choking;
- the EAS guarantees the absorption of the impact force on the
user's body only for one fall; the stretching of the dissipator (D),
requires the prompt replacement of the device. It is advisable to
always carry at least one spare;
- when the load indicator (D3) is broken or cracked, the device
must be immediately replaced (fi g. 10).
Checks before and after use
Before and after use, make sure that the device is in an effi cient
condition and that it is working properly, in particular, check that:
- it is suitable for the intended use;
- textile parts do not have cuts, burns, chemical residues,
excessive hair, wear, in particular check the areas in contact
with the connectors (A) and check the loops (C/G);
- stitching is intact, and there are no cut or loose threads;
- metal parts are free of cracks, corrosion, mechanical deformation
and that any wear and tear is only of an aesthetic nature;
- markings, including labels, are legible.
