Working behaviour and working technique (09)
1. Switch off the hedge trimmer and remove the
battery (see chapter 5.2 "Switching the
hedge trimmer ON and OFF (06)", page 26).
2. Clear the blockage (e.g branch).
3. Wait for around 5 seconds.
4. Insert the battery again and switch on the
hedge trimmer.

WARNING! Increased risk of falling.
There is a greater risk of falling if work is carried
out from an elevated position (e.g. ladder).
always work with the appliance from the
ground and make sure that you are standing
securely.
Heed the safety instructions.
Trim the hedge regularly and only at the per-
mitted times.
Cut off only the thin branches and new
growth on the surface of the hedge; do not
cut too deep.
Always cut the two sides of a hedge first,
then the top. This prevents cut material from
falling into areas that you have not yet
trimmed.
Hedges should always be trimmed into a
trapezoidal shape (tapering toward the top).
This prevents the leaves on the lower
branches from being shaded out (09).
Make sure the motor has stopped before re-
moving any cuttings.
When leaving/transporting the appliance:
Switch off the appliance.
Fit the protective cover.
Remove the battery.
After use, remove the battery and check the
appliance for damage.

7 MAINTENANCE AND CARE

WARNING! Danger of cuts and lacera-
tions. Danger of cuts and lacerations when
reaching into sharp-edged, moving appliance
parts and into cutting tools.
Before maintenance, care and cleaning work,
always switch off the appliance. Remove the
rechargeable battery.
Always wear protective gloves during mainte-
nance, care and cleaning work.

NOTE Repair work is only allowed to be car-
ried out by expert workshops or our service cen-
tres.
Do not expose the machine to rain or mois-
ture.
After each use, clean the housing and cutting
blades with a brush or cloth. Do not use wa-
ter and/or aggressive cleaning agents or sol-
vents - risk of corrosion and damage to the
plastic parts.
After every use, remove the rechargeable
battery and inspect the appliance for dam-
age.
Clean the cutting blade and spray with corro-
sion protection oil.
Regularly check the cutting blade. Contact
one of the manufacturer's service centres in
the event of:
Defective cutting blade
Blunt cutting blade
Excessive wear
Inspect all bolts for tightness.
Inspect the electrical contacts of the appli-
ance for corrosion, clean with a fine wire
brush if necessary and then spray with a con-
tact spray.

Lubricating the gearbox (10)

Lubricate the gearbox after approx. 25 operating
hours.
1. Unscrew the plug (10/1) on the underside of
the hedge trimmer (10/2) from the filler neck
(10/3) (10/a).
2. If no grease is visible on the plug, push the
grease tube (10/4) into the filler neck (10/3)
(10/b).
3. Press up to 5 g of gearbox grease into the
gearbox housing.
Note: Do not fill the gearbox housing com-
pletely!
4. Screw the plug firmly into the filler neck
again.

8 HELP IN CASE OF MALFUNCTION

CAUTION! Risk of injury. Sharp-edged
and moving appliance parts can lead to injury.
Always wear protective gloves during mainte-
nance, care and cleaning work!
