POWER TURN-OFF PROCEDURE
The fol I owing procedure removes power from the entire
system.
l.
Turn off sequence power at the controller by setting
Sl switch to OFF (see Figure 18).
Note:
The controller is in a separate
cabinet.
The
S l switch is on the Controller Power
Dist
ribu-
tion Panel, which is at the top of the cabinet.
2.
Set FilterBoxPanelUNITPOWERcircuit breaker to OFF
in each storage unit cabinet (see Figures 15 and
17).

Note: The disk pack to be installed must be clean (see
"Disk Pack Cleaning"). Before loading
it,
be sure
the
disk
drive is completely stopped (after the
SPIN Ii ght goes off).
l.
Release the front latch (see Figure 23) on the desired
spindle drawer and pull the drawer out to the stop.
Note: A spindle lock mechanism is actuated when
the spindle drawer is opened. While a disk
pack is being
loaded,
the mechanism holds
the spindle stationary until the pack loading
force exceeds the torgue of the slipping clutch.
2.
Lift the disk pack by the plastic canister handle.

Unscrew the bottom
dust
cover from the
disk
pack,
usi ng the knob in the cen ter of the cover
.
Set
t
he
cover aside. Remove pro tective cover
from
spi ndle
and set aside
.
4.
Carefully place the disk pack onto the spindle, avoid-
ing
rough
contact.
