The procedure for setting up and calibrating the instrumentation is as follows. For de-

tailed information about setting up the Artificial Mastoid please refer to its Instruction

Manual

Connect the output of the Force Transducer of the Artificial Mastoid to the preampli-

fier Type 2642 using the cable supplied with the Mastoid

An adaptor

2615 is re-

quired to connect the mini plug of the transducer cable to the half-inch preamplifier

Connect the preamplifier to the INPUT socket on the rear panel of the Audio Test Sta-

tion.

Connect the bone conductor to the OUTPUT socket on the rear panel of the 2116

The pin connection diagram is shown in Fig.3.2.

Place the bone conductor on the calibration surface of the Artificial Mastoid and ad-

just the preload to the required value as described in detail in the manual for the Ar-

tificial Mastoid

Ensure that the COMPRESSION switch on the rear panel of the 2116 is in the

"Out" position so that a constant voltage output is obtained.

Select a suitable output level using the SPL UP and DOWN pushkeys

Select the required measurement parameter and press RUN to start the measure

ment.
