DISASSEMBLING THE TRANSMISSION

1. Remove:
• Set screw "1"
TIP
Before loosening the set screw "1", measure the
installed length "a" so that the screw can be in-
stalled in the same position.

CHECKING THE TRANSMISSION

1. Check:
• Ring gear
• Idle gear
• Reverse gear
• Forward gear
Blue discoloration/pitting/wear → Replace.
2. Check:
• Forward and reverse gear dogs
• Dog clutch
Cracks/damage/rounded edges → Replace.
3. Check:
• Shift fork
Bends/damage/scoring/wear → Replace.
TRANSMISSION (YUM1A/YUM2A)
4. Check:
• Bearings
Damage → Replace.

ASSEMBLING THE TRANSMISSION

1. Install:
• Set screw "1"
TIP
Install the set screw "1" so that the installed
length "a" is the same as the length measured
before the screw was removed.

INSTALLING THE SHIFT CABLES

1. Install:
• Equalizer bracket "1"
TIP
Align the flat portion "a" of the equalizer bracket
"1" with the flat portion of the shift lever "2".
2. Adjust:
• Shift stroke
