Synchronization with MiDi Equipment (Mk2)
MIDI Synchronization Using
MTC
The following explains how to achie\ e sx nchronization
v\'ith a MTC (MIDI Time Code) compatible sequencer
(etc.).
bor tliese operations, this unit \\ ill output the svnc
signals. Make sure the s\'nc setting of \ inir sequencer is
on external s\ nc.
Note
C crtain sequencers (etc.) ma\ not start siniplv bv inputting
the MIC (MIDI Time Code). In such cases, press I'L.A'i (etc.)
on the respectn e equipirient so it will be readv to receice the
external s\ nc signal before vou start the MDM-\4 \lk2.

Connections
Use n MIDI cable to connect this unit to a Mlldl
compatible sequencer (etc.).

Setup

Set this unit's "S\'\C" sestom setting to .MTC.
See "Changing a Setting" (page IS of the main
"Operating Instructions") and "Svnc mode setting
(Sync)" (page 3 of this booklet) for details.

Set the sequencer to accept external .MTC
synchronization.
This enables playback of MIDI song data.
Refer to the operating instructions supipHed with
your sequencer as well.

Start playback from this unit.
The secqucncer starts playing in svnehronization
with this unit.
Adding offset to the MTC output

While the disc is in stop mode, turn the jog dial to
move the counter displax' forward to the amount
tT offset \'ou w ant to acid.

Press M.ARK.

Hold down SHIFT and press OUT.
Note

-Mthough the master unit's counter disphw and disc lime
piisitums are not he effected, the output MTC signal contains
the added offset.
(Example)

counter disp)a\' (>f the master unit:
When yrui start playing the song from the beginning (cin
the master unit), the time code to be output starts at 2.3
Hours .3h .Minutes .4(1 seconds 00 Frame.s, After 10
seconds the time code changes to zero and the synchro
unit starts.
Matching the "A" points
(when the song on master side is late)
Master song

If tlu' master side is ahead of the svnc side, switch discs
betw een the master and svnc units.
To check the offset setting
When \ ou hold down SHIFT and press OUT, the offset
lime is displayed and that position is located.
To cancel the offset setting
Use the jog dial (etc.) to set the time in the counter
display to zero, then perform steps 2 and 3 abov e.
Ejecting the disc also cancels the offset.
