Water Heater
Operational Issue
When the water is running, the appliance
does not attempt ignition and the fan does
not run.
When the water is running, the fan runs, but
the appliance does not attempt ignition.
The water temperature at the faucet is too
hot, too cold, or inconsistent.
The E.C.O. trips repeatedly.
The pilot lights but fails to stay lit.

Potential Reason
On Demand Water Heaters
The water flow is less than 0.8 gpm (3.0 lpm) at the faucet.
The winter/summer setting on the modulating valve requires
adjustment.
The E.C.O. is in open circuit.
The E.C.O. needs to be reset.
The inline 3 A fuse at the Water Heater is blown.
The wall switch is defective.
The wall switch is wired incorrectly.
The modulating valve is defective.
The DC voltage is too low or absent.
The pressure switch is defective.
The pressure switch is blocked.
The electrode has shorted out.
The flue tube is blocked.
The 2 A fuse on the control board is blown.
The control board is defective.
The water flow is not between 0.8–1.5 gpm (3.0–5.7 lpm) at the
faucet.
The inlet water temperature is too hot or too cold (60 degree
temperature change at full flow).
The winter/summer setting on the modulating valve requires
adjustment.
Restrictors are being used on the faucets and the shower heads.
The gas pressure is not between 11–13 in. W.C. when entering the
appliance under 50% demand.
The user is not turning on the hot-water tap fully and slowly to
introduce the cold water.
The cold-weather thermostat is loose and not tight against the heat
exchanger.
The winter/summer setting on the modulating valve requires
adjustment.
The incoming water temperature is too hot.
The E.C.O. is defective.
Gas Only - Pilot Water Heaters
The pilot flame is insufficient.
The pilot orifice is blocked.
The pilot was not lit properly.
The thermocouple is weak.
The gas valve is not functioning because of a tripped E.C.O.
