    NOTICE: The information in this document is subject to change without notice. Intended Use The EX8000 Bed is intended to provide means for a single occupant to recline and sit, and to assist the occupant in moving between reclining, sitting and standing positions.

    EX8000 User Manual Revision 04 End Board Options Headboard and Footboard Finish Options *Custom Headboard and Footboards Available Preparation for Use Unpacking (If Shipped LTL/Commercial) Tools Required: Utility knife Side-cutting shears To unpack bed, footboard and headboard: 1. Use the utility knife to carefully cut the shrink-wrap film and remove it from the bed.

    EX8000 User Manual Revision 04 Disassembly Tools Required: 5/8 Wrench 5/8 Socket (Use with an impact driver) Side Cutters NOTE: It is recommended that an impact driver be used with the 5/8 socket when disassembling the bed high low ends and head and foot deck sections 1.
  • Page 9 EX8000 User Manual Revision 04 3. Cut both black cable ties. 4. Near the casters are two 7/16-14” X 4 ½” zinc bolts, these need to be removed with the 5/8” socket and drill. Retain these bolts and nuts for assembly process.
  • Page 10 EX8000 User Manual Revision 04 5. There are two more bolts that need removed located perpendicular to the other two. Remove and retain hardware for assembly process. 6. Remove foot deck assembly. 7. Unbolt the other two 7/16-14” X 4 ½” Bolts and remove the head section assembly from the head high low assembly.
  • Page 11 EX8000 User Manual Revision 04 8. Place both decks on the ground arranged like this (image below is foot deck to left and head deck to right). 9. There are two more 7/16-14” X 1 ¾” bolts that need removed, located on the foot end deck assembly, retain hardware for assembly process.

    EX8000 User Manual Revision 04 Assembly Tools Required: 5/8 Wrench 5/8 Socket (Use with an impact driver) Side Cutters NOTE: It is recommended that an impact driver be used with the 5/8 socket when assembling the bed high low ends and head and foot deck sections.
  • Page 13 EX8000 User Manual Revision 04 2. Repeat the same steps for the foot end high low assembly. 3. Turn each bolted together assembly over to orient the bed decks like below and align the welded bosses directly with each other.
  • Page 14 EX8000 User Manual Revision 04 4. Use two of the 7/16-14” X 4 ½” Bolt and nuts to assemble each assembly together, both upper and lower bosses. Be sure to use the impact drill again to firmly secure. 5. Use the two 7/16-14” X 1 ¾” bolts and nuts to secure the inside frame to each assembly. Be sure to use the impact drill again to firmly secure.
  • Page 15 EX8000 User Manual Revision 04 6. Cut the cable ties to release cable 3 (Green) and 4 (Orange). Open the control box by depressing the detent buttons and swing the cover out to open. 7. Plug cables 3 (Green) and 4 (Orange) into the respective locations. Route the cabling to seat into he groves of the control box and then close tightly.
  • Page 16 EX8000 User Manual Revision 04 Plug the high low cable into actuators, use the provided c-clips to secure the cable (be sure to push in until flush with plastic housing). Route the wire along the weldment and secure with the provided cable ties. Cut off any excess cable tie.

    EX8000 User Manual Revision 04 Operation Control Options Handset (Standard with Bed) ACO Foot End Control Panel (Optional) Articulation Head, Deck Elevation, Auto-Contour, Knee and Trendenlenburgs – Hold the button down until the desired position is achieved. Cardiac Chair – Hold the button down until the desired position is achieved. However, the pre-determined position will take some time and each motor operated independently.

    EX8000 User Manual Revision 04 Foot Elevation To elevate the foot section, first raise the knee to the desired height. Manually lift the foot end of the foot section and rotate the foot support post upward. Lower the foot section placing the foot support on the bottom of the foot section.

    EX8000 User Manual Revision 04 Bed Deck Expansion or Retraction To expand deck, push the two buttons simultaneously and pull the tube, release the button until the desired width is achieved. The first locking location is 39” the second is 42” and the final is 48”. Repeat on all four sections and both sides of bed.

    Check that screws, bolts, pins and other fasteners are in Remove bed from service. Tighten loose bolts and screws. place, secured and properly tightened. Contact Med-Mizer® customer service to order missing or damaged fasteners. Inspect actuators for excessive wear and misalignment.

This warranty does not cover failure due to negligence, accident, abuse or installation not in accordance with the company’s instructions or failure to follow maintenance instructions.
