TAKING
CARE
OF THE
DISKS
Floppy
disks
hold
information
magnetically
and
require
special
care.
Protect
your
disks
and
the
information
stored
on them
by following
these precautions:
°
When
not
in use,
disks
should
be kept
in the
paper
envelopes
they came
in.
Do
not
touch
or
attempt
to
clean
the
surface
of
the floppy disk.
Fingerprints
or cleaning
fluid can
prevent
the
disk
drive
from
properly
reading
the
information
stored
on the disk.
The
information
on the disk can
be damaged
if the
disk
is twisted,
bent,
or dropped
sharply,
or
if it
is exposed
to direct
sunlight,
extreme
heat
or cold,
food, liquid or dust particles,
including smoke.
DO
NOT
use a pencil or ballpoint
pen.
If you
must
write
on
the
label,
use
only
a felt-tipped
pen
and
press lightly.
Do not write on the label while
it is
on
the
disk.
Remove
the
label
or
attach
a
new
label.
Do not
use
erasers
on
the
floppy
disk
label
or near
the floppy disk.
Do
not
expose
the
floppy
disk
to
sources
of
magnetic
energy.
Keep
it away
from
speakers
in
radios or televisions.
Do not place heavy objects
on the floppy disk.
Do
not
use
rubber
bands
or
paper
clips
on
the
floppy disk.
