2.9.1 Panel Updater

Using the panel updater (an auxiliary program installed in the front panel) and a connected USB stick with appropriate machine software, the platform front panel is
programmed to become a machine-specific spare part front panel with serial number #100.

If the panel updater cannot be started by the machine software, it is also possible to start it from the USB stick. To do so, place a text file with the name "reset.txt" on
the USB stick, insert it in the front panel, and switch on the machine.
The following cases must be differentiated. Depending on the case, different steps are needed to start the panel updater and avoid
potential data loss:
a) Installing a new front panel as a spare part
A spare front panel is shipped without machine-specific software. The serial number „100" indicates that this is a spare front panel. When the front panel is
started, the panel updater starts automatically
Switch-off machine

Remove the defective front panel and remove the micro SD card and do not insert it in the spare front panel at first

Install the replacement front panel, insert the USB stick with the corresponding machine software, and switch on the machine


b) Using a used front panel on a machine with a different serial number
Because the front panel already has a serial number entered, the software starts with the previous machine software and configuration.
The panel updater must be used to update the front panel, and a front panel from a different machine type can also be used (for example, a front panel from
a WMF 5000 S+ can be used on a WMF 1500 S+).
Switch-off machine

Remove the defective front panel and remove the micro SD card and do not insert it in the spare front panel at first

Install the replacement front panel, insert the USB stick with the corresponding machine software, and switch on the machine

Start Panel updater

Continue according to the „Panel updater process flow description" on the next pages

c) A front panel should be reinitialized in order to perform a software downgrade, for example, or - in case of perceived database errors - can reload
the same software version that is already installed on the front panel
Insert the USB stick with the appropriate machine software in the front panel

