USE OF LEARNING FUNCTIONS
Prologue:
This programmable remote control unit is a remote control unit
with learning functions. It is capable of learning and memorizing
the remote control codes for operation of not only Pioneer audio
and video equipment but also for AV equipment of other
manufacturers. It is very convenient as all operations can be
made from a single remote control unit. It can only store the
remote control codes of infrared-type units. As almost all current
wireless remote control units use the infrared system, this
learning function allows for command code storage for most
audio and video components.
The programmable remote control can memorize control signals
for other system components. However, this does not mean
that the remote controls of other components are not needed
anymore, since they must be used at times of re-programming.
NOTE:
When programming, make sure that the equipment cannot
operate. Otherwise, loss of important tapes or sudden loud
noise output may occur.
Operation can be prevented by turning off the main power
supply of the equipment removing the pewer cord from the
AC outlet or covering the remote sensor window.
Note that infrared rays are liable to be reflected off walls or
the ceiling to cause the equipment to operate.

Keys which can be preset
When the TRANSMIT mode selector switch is in the AUDIO
or VIDEO position, the learning function works for all keys
other than the SURROUND AMPLIFIER function keys. In the
AUX position, the learning function works for all keys.
Preset commands can be changed.
In the AUDIO and VIDEO positions, the unit is preset at the
factory with Pioneer's uniform remote control codes. If the
corresponding equipment is Pioneer, they can be used as they
are. If more operations than those first stored in the memory
are desired, use the learning function. In addition, it is possible
to restore the Pioneer uniform remote control codes even after
other codes have been preset. (Refer. to 'Returning to the Initial
Settings" for this procedure.)
¢
In each mode one function per key may be programmed,
for a total of up to 154 functions.
,
e When presetting keys, make sure that the remote control
units of both this and the other component are loaded with
fresh batteries.
¢
For some special types of infrared remote control units
programming may be impossible.
