The 40-617A module consists of 18 electrically isolated banks
of multiplexers controlled by a PXI interface. Each bank is a 1
to 3 multiplexer and inter-bank linking relays allow the size of a
multiplexer to be increased in multiples of 3 by joining the common
terminals of adjacent banks. Closing one linking switch produces a
6 channel multiplexer, closing all linking switches produces an 54
channel multiplexer.
The 40-617A can be operated as a conventional multiplexer
with break-before-make action when a new channel is selected.
Alternatively, product variants can be supplied that allow multiple
channels to be simultaneously selected.
The 40-617A channel selection configurations have been revised
from the 40-617. The 40-617A defaults to single channel selection
with multiple channel selection variants defined by use of a suffix.

SECTION 1 - TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION
The module includes isolation switching that connects only
the currently active multiplexer bank to its common terminal.
This minimizes capacitive loading and leakage current in large
multiplexer systems.
12xSPST uncommitted relays are included which are separate from
the multiplexers and are accessed via the front panel connector.
The module can be cascaded for applications that require large
multiplexer systems, it is also suitable for test systems that require
a large number of signals to be switched in parallel.
Supported by eBIRST
eBIRST switching system test tools simplify switching system fault-
finding by quickly testing the system and graphically identifying the
faulty relay.
