SECTION 3 TROUBLESHOOTING

If you encounter a problem while installing or using your ORB drive, check
this section for help.
If the information presented in this document does not help you resolve the
problem, visit the Support Center on our web site: www.castlewood.com.
Additional information can be obtained by sending an email with the “subject”
defined as “Help” to help@castlewood.com. Please include in the body of
the email: model of ORB drive, operating system and problem(s) encountered.
CAUTION: Always power off your computer and all peripherals
before reconfiguring the EIDE bus. Electrical power should
be turned off before connecting or disconnecting any
cables; otherwise, your drive or computer equipment could
be damaged.
CMOS/BIOS Setup
It is recommended to install the ORB drive on the secondary EIDE channel
as the master device. The CMOS/BIOS setting for the ORB drive can be
set to “none installed”. Windows operating system fully supports the ORB
drive and assigns a drive letter to the drive. This may not be true if the ORB
drive is installed as a slave device.
If you need to access the drive under DOS, the BIOS setting for the ORB
drive has to be either “auto” or “user”.
Following is the data needed for entering the USER defined type using the
BIOS Setup program.
Cylinders: 4273
If a mode entry is required, use PIO4 or DMA 2. DO NOT use UDMA.
