PUMP DESCRIPTION

This chapter explains the assemblies and components of the pump and how they work.
The following information is intended to help you understand how the pump works. This information can help to
avoid dangers and errors due to incorrect operation.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE PUMP

SIZES

Several pumps of different sizes are listed in these operating instructions because they
• work according to the same principle of action,
• have the same intended use,
• are subject to the same legal and normative requirements,
• have a similar construction,
• have similar physical characteristics
• and are also very similar in terms of maintenance/service/commissioning.

VARIANTS

4.3.1

VARIANTS O 5.10-O 5.25

Within the O 5.10-O 5.25 series, 3 variants are distinguished.
• O 5.XX, with short oil tank
• O 5.XX, with oil tank
• O 5.XX XL K, with long oil tank + oil cooler
Due to the larger oil tank, there are longer maintenance intervals (see chapter 8.3).

VARIANTS U 5.40

Within the U 5.40 series, a distinction is made between 3 variants.
• U 5.XX, with oil tank
• U 5.XX XL, with long XL oil tank
The pump is a classic oil-lubricated rotary vane vacuum pump.
It consists of a housing, the eccentrically installed rotor (1), the radially
moving vanes (3) and the inlet and outlet.
There is a non-return valve (4) in the connection flange which is only
open during operation.
When the rotor turns, gas flows into the enlarging chamber (2) until it is
shut off by the next slide valve. The enclosed gas is then compressed
until the outlet valve opens against atmospheric pressure. The vacuum
created draws oil into the scoop chamber and, in addition to lubrication,
also causes the slides to be sealed. The oil required for compression is
then separated again via the air de-oiling elements.
