  • Page 4 R1104F Hardware Installation Step 1. On the rear of the R1104F, remove the six screws that secure the unit’s heat sink to the PCB. Step 2. After removing the screws, carefully remove the heat sink from the R1104F. Step 3. After removing the casing, carefully turn it over to view the thermal pad.
  • Page 5 Step 4. These 4 screws are used to install the NVMe SSDs. The R1104F can support any M.2 form factor (2242, 2260, 2280, and 22110). Step 5. Please remove the screws on the right side of R1104F. Step 6. Gently insert the NVMe SSDs into the slot. Note: Please make sure all disks are clean before you insert them into the slot to avoid unexpected situations.
  • Page 6 Step 7. Refasten the screw to secure the NVMe SSD. Repeat Steps 5 to 7 to install the remaining NVMe SSDs. Note: Make sure the NVMe SSDs are carefully, but securely installed into each M.2 port. Loose connections can cause a variety of stability and performance issues, and may ultimately result in data loss.
  • Page 7 Step 9. On the rear of the R1104F, refasten the six screws that were removed in Step 1. Note1: Make sure the aluminum cover is properly aligned with the HBA board (PCB), and that it makes full contact with the thermal pad, before refastening it to the R1104F.
